I doubt I'll get myself organized enough for a full report so here is a brief overview of our trip
Our stay was 9/27 - 10/6 at AKL. It was absolutely beautiful! Paying extra for Arusha savanna view was well worth it. Animals outside our balcony every day! CMs were awesome and our Mousekeeper was the best. She made towel animals everyday and even did little special things with the girls' baby blankets and snuggies they had brought from home. The only time it was noisy was walking past Boma in the evening. The pool was fantastic and never felt crowded. For those who say it is too far - our longest ride to MK was 23 minutes, all other times we were there, or back, within 20 minutes. HS & Epcot were 10-15min, AK was 5min. It was a great hotel to go back to and just hang out when the weather forced us from the parks.
We had upgraded from free DP to DxDP because we were doing so many character meals. This worked great for us, brfst & dinner every day at lots of different places. The only real disappointment food-wise was CRT brfst (awful!) but you pay for the experience & the girls LOVED it! We only waited in line in the parks for a few characters since we saw everyone at the meals. I have to say that the BEST by far was waiting 45 min for Tinker Bell & her twin Periwinkle. They stayed in character the whole time, spent a lot of time with each kid and were just GREAT!!!!
The weather was just AWFUL!!!! I really didn't expect that much heat & humidity - high 90s. It rained every day and not just passing showers but torrential downpours. Our MNSSHP on Thurs 10/4 was a total bust due to all the rain but we did manage to score some candy. Disney usually does everything so well but they were completely off on that night and we left before 9pm. We had planned 10 days because we weren't sure how it would go and it turned out that we needed it since we had quite a few days that we only lasted 3-4 hours in a park before we had to take a break back at the hotel. Our second day at Epcot was supposed to be World Showcase but after brfst at Akershus it was 10:30am and already in the high 80s. No way we could do it at that point so we just went back to AKL.
The girls did great! Using the buses, meals, some line waits etc they became real experts at it all. They only got a bit cranky because of the heat and when they were hungry but no meltdowns.
Overall it was a great first trip:) So much so that I spent Sunday booking a 6 day trip for February - hoping for much cooler temps :cool1:
