Holy #$@&* THAT hurt!!

Wow, Lauri! I'm sorry it was so painful for you! :( But you had me ROFL with your descriptions! I hope your knee and ankle are feeling better.

:scared1: You ARE brave!!! It hurt just to *read* about it!!!

I agree, you definitely deserve to be catered to after that. I hope you have a great weekend!! :flower1:

Been there, done that! I too thought the anisthetic was a joke! I hope the cortisone helps you. You don't want to know my result from it.

So that was my day.. how was yours?

Compared to yours, I have no right to complain. You are brave, Lauri.:) I've taken my dad for cortisone shots in his knee from time to time and he's says he'd rather endure the pain from his knee than having that shot.

Diane... I'd like to know what happened with your cortisone shot.

My knee is not doing well at all. It hurts ten times more than it did before the shot now. I could barely even stand having a piece of fabric touch it now.

Dang, I thought the worst part of the pain would be over with the shot - no wonder he told me to stay home from work today...lol

As soon as I saw "Cortisone", I knew the pain you were talking about...it's like they are injecting jello!

I've had way too many visits with the cortisone injections--not fun. And you know it's bad when the doctor that has done 5 of your wrist surgeries keeps coming back in to ask if you are ok! I don't wish those injections on anyone.

Hope you are getting that pampering and that the cortisone does what it is supposed to!

The pain will stick around for a little while (it varies, usually a couple days), unfortunately. I live with the Aleve bottle when I have to get an injection. This from a person who has a very high pain threshhold, mind you!

Suzanne - I had my wrist done a couple of months ago...painful but I was able to get through it without making a face that time :scared: and he actually let me watch him do that one. I used to be so afraid of needles and shots but since getting first Von Willebrands Disease and then AOSD... needles are a fact of life for me. :(

Because of the Von Willebrands I am not able to take Ibuprophen, Aspirin, or Naproxin - because it causes me to bleed internally (think of Von Willebrands as a hemophilia that women (of celtic decent) can actually suffer from, not just carry) Yep, I never get a cold, the flu and am immune to childhood illnesses, have perfect blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar... but I get some of the rarer crap around..lol - my rhuemy calls me the healthiest sick person he knows

So right now I'm living off of the highest dose of Vicodin you can take safely - so any pain I feel up and above that, I just have to rough through because I'm already ODing on Tylenol with the Vicodin.

I told Matt last night that I wasn't going to drink anything because I didn't want to have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night because it hurt so darn bad to walk and sit down. My body however has a meaner sense of humor that I do and I got up every freaking 2 hours to go to the bathroom. What the heck was up with that? :confused3

Just the word "Cortisone" makes me quiver.

After I read your post, I felt so bad for you I put my feet up and made my husband bring me a cup of tea.

I hope the relief you get outweighs pain of the injections.

I was injected in both heels, loudly questioned the doctors parentage and vowed not to do that again.

You deserve all the pampering ou can get.

I got one of these in my knee once... let's say the doctor was in the wrong place at the wrong time and my leg reflexed when he shot me up. :p I accidently kicked him. REFLEX I tell ya, had nothing to do with the worst pain I've EVER felt in my life....

:earseek: You are braver than me Meanlaureen. I'd have talked the doc out of it.

Yep cortizone shots are great aren't they whenI hurt my left knee when I was 16 I used to get them every day at physio for over a year I they made the pain go away for the day and felt like I could do anything with the knee. I am now just waiting to have my operation 2nd one on my right knee I like Demerol for the pain to really makes you feel great . I do hate needles and they make me feel very bad I can't even look at them but you just sort of get used to it I guess. I hope you knee and ankle are feeling better soon so you don't have to go through them anymore the knee hurts like a son of a gun the first few times they give you your shot.

I wish I could get knee reconstructive surgery.... I have another 20 years to wait :( (due to my age, they won't do it).

I got one of those shots in my shoulder joint once and I can't even begin to imagine getting one in a knee! Yow!!!
