As for reporting bad posts, as has been suggested, I do, probably a half dozen a week. Sometimes they are taken care of promptly, sometimes it takes repeated requests, several times a day for several weeks (not really sure why some take so long), but eventually most, virtually all, are taken care of.
Holy Moly! How do you possibly find 6 a week to report? I've been here at least 6 years, either posting or as a lurker, and have maybe reported 6 posts in 6 years!
I tend to only open the threads I think are going to be interesting to me or that I think I can contribute something to. Yes, sometimes it's even a joke or sarcasm. ;) I just leave the other threads to those posters that will be interested in that stuff.
As for lots of responses...Who cares how many posts a thread has? I mean really. If the Maelstromers have their thing going ( Sorry, I've never visited that thread. ) or the exchange people have their thing (Sorry, I don't go there either. ) then what's the problem? If there are THAT many replies to a post I'd think it was a GOOD thing, right? :confused3
What's the difference between a bunch of people joking and laughing to make someone else feel better and the long threads for someone who is ill, that Dan often starts? :confused3
And I know a lot of people don't like the drinking threads or the stupid jokes that go on. Then stay away from those threads. You know who it is and who's involved, so just stay away. How hard can it be? I've posted it before and I'll say it again. For those of us on those threads that may be the only thing we have to smile about that week.

Hey Dan - I think I got your point loud and clear, and I wasn't even here yesterday! :teeth:

I think Micca spoke some very wise words a couple posts ago - maybe the mods could consider them? :)

Thank you for saying this because it is so true. For the couple of "clique threads" I have been involved in, I have really gotten to be good friends with the people and had some great conversations and tons of fun. When I have a bad day, I have these threads to look forward to and it does make me feel better. What is wrong with that?

That being said, I do get frustrated with posts about nothing. Maybe there could be some rules about that, to make us all feel better?

No, thank YOU for agreeing with me! :thumbsup2 But who's to say a post is about "nothing"? Even I've been guilty of posting a line from a movie to get others to post with me. I'm just trying to add some fun because the lines from the movie make me laugh. It's a "nothing" post, except to those it makes laugh. :)

Nothing at all! Some cliques, however, will hijack a separate thread where a clique member has posted and go on and on about inside jokes while everyone else is totally lost. That goes too far. But about 1/3 of the CB is consistently taken up by games, exchanges, and well-established cliques. It's already been given 3 sub-boards, why not one more? Why is this request, which has been discussed more than once, not granted?

I don't mind a post like that. I was actually talking more along the lines of people just posting smilies. :duck:

gotcha! :thumbsup2

Dan, glad to see you are doing well. :goodvibes

I have been a member here for a long time. Lurking for awhile before posting. Back then I believe it was only 1 or 2 boards! I have seen so many changes here and most have been to better the DIS. It is such an amazing community and I am so grateful for all the advice and tips I have learned and am still learning.

I click on posts that I think will interest me and ignore others that don't. I am not in any "cliques" or involved in any of the games/exchanges. I'm just not interested. It in no way bothers me that they are around. I think it's great for others that like them! But, I do find it annoying that the whole first page of the CB is sometimes just filled with all these above mentioned posts. I would really love to see a seperate board for those types of threads. I would really like to know why that can't or hasn't been done?

This is the Community Board, correct :confused3 ...open board for posting all kinds of threads...games (of which Dan has started some), so called "cliques'...I posted this on one of the other DM threads...why does anyone care what people post about...are we not adults...if you don't like it then ignore it...the whole thing of why post counts, Lush Lounges, YA YA Whatevers bothers anyone is puzzling to me :confused3 ...if this is all you have to worry about in your life then you're living a pretty damn good life...let it go Dan and everyone one else that it bothers...read threads you enjoy...post where you choose and just enjoy the great number of people and the diversity that the Dis offers.

Dan!

Happy 4th! I hope you guys have a great holiday!

I'm stuck at work, but not for long...although there is a strom blowing outside of Biblical proportion...maybe I can volunteer for even more double OT holiday pay!

Anyway - have a great day buddy!

Hi Dan

Happy 4th of July everyone. We got rain here in Austin. Bah.

I think the one negative of spliting the huge threads off is that (as a regular at one of the medium sized ones) I really enjoy the "new blood" we get every now and again. We have people jump in all the time. Some stay and some do not. If we were off the CB I doubt anyone new would ever find us.

Now games and exchanges I could see, because people would go looking for those where ever they were. But really I am good either which way. It really is not that much trouble to go look at page two or three...

Someone mentioned that it is frustrating when they get no response from Mods. I know that feeling pretty well, but I think it is easy to forget that there are 1000's of us and just a few of them. I can not even imagine how much time they must spend answering people and keeping these boards clean.

I would like to say that I have always been impressed by how well the mods do at keeping the porn off of here or removing that which pops in. That is no small task, and I am very grateful for their efforts.

Ok, I am done now. Party on.

Oh bull....I didn't know Dan was 12. :confused3

For the record....if people don't like the threads then they should skip 'em instead of having a hissy fit about 'em.

:furious: Are you :stir: so to speak? :sad2:
No...not stirring anything saying flat out that IMO Dan's posts were an immature overreaction to his frustration. If a newbie had done something like that everyone would have been :furious:
