Holy cow! The CDN dollar closed at...

Everyday I wonder - Should I convert money today or wait? Should I pay Disney off.. (room only reservation) or wait..

So far.. I'm waiting. :)

I dont like it one bit. Great for vacations but thats it. I've been working at the same place for 20 years and last year they were talking expansion. Last week there now thinking closure. Cheaper to make in CHINA and Mexico.

over $1.07 today! Here's one of the many news links: http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/071102/national/loonie_record_close_1

All I have to say is: :cool1: :yay: :goodvibes

My husband converted all of our vacation money into American funds a while ago when he thought the dollar had peaked - and then it just kept getting stronger. We lost several thousand dollars in the exchange. So now we try not to look at the current exchange rate. :rotfl2:

But from a national pride perspective, I think it's awesome. Our dollar kicks tuckus!

We lost several thousand dollars in the exchange.

You must have been exchanged a tonne of money to have "lost several thousand dollars in the exchange."

While it's a nice exchange rate for Canadians, the truth is that the difference between the Canadian dollar being worth $1.05 US and the days when the US $ was worth $1.05 Canadian has little real effect on the final amount we will pay. It's less than $10 on a $100 item.

True, but on my last trip to Disney in March, the exchange rate was 1.15 .. after bank fees that was close to 1.2 Canadian to 1 US.

That 25c per dollar is 25$ per hundred. That's 2500 on $10,000 .. which if you were choosing to convert your money to pay for your vacation (vs. direct charging on a Canadian $ CC) .. that smarts. :)

I kept telling my fiance to exchange some money last week when it was $1.05. He said no we'll waite . I am now very happy we did, we leave next sunday, so I think we will waite now until next thursday to exchange. It sounds like it is going to continue to rise of the next few weeks from what I here in the news.

We have family down in the US and spend a fair bit traveling each year. Yeah - it was a tonne of money. At about a ten percent exchange rate. And over a thousand, if not actually several thousands. Enough to hurt, that's for sure!

I'm in the same boat... I've been wondering when the best time to get some US$ for my WDW trip. Leaving next Sunday as well. I might wait until Friday to get my US $. :) It doesn't sound like our dollar will be going down before then!
