On a day we will be park hopping later in the afternoon, right around the end of lunch/beginning of dinner, from DHS to Epcot, I’m wondering what everyone’s opinion is on which is typically the better buffet, Hollywood & Vine or Garden Grill? We’ve never eaten at either so I’m not sure. Just as a “reference,” last year was my bf’s first time to Disney and we ate at both 1900 PF for dinner and lunch at Tusker House and liked the food at both. Any opinions on which you think is better? Characters don’t matter - I like them all at both places. lol

Garden Grill is served family style so it's not a buffet, but you can ask for more of what they serve.
I like rotating through the scenes from Living with the Land at Garden Grill. But I prefer the food at H&V.

I prefer the food at H&V and I felt a little closed in being in the booth at Garden Grill.

We are huge fans of Garden Grill. We do dinner there every trip and have both dinner and breakfast booked next week - we really enjoy the food.

The food at the Garden Grill is excellent. The character interaction is also better. Hollywood and Vine will have more variety. I would check the menus of each, but we would definitely prefer the Garden Grill.

GG is family style all you can eat, so it's more relaxing with the full service

H&V is a buffet, so more variety, but less relaxing.

Food quality is about the same at both (I think 1900 park fare and tusker have superior food to both these)

If you would enjoy the food at GG, i'd go there for the family style, so check their menu

Garden Grill IMO. The food is served to you and the food at Garden Grill is a lot better than the food at Hollywood and Vine.

Hollywood & Vine would have more of a variety, while Garden Grill would have a better atmosphere. The rotation of the restaurant is unique, and the booth style seating facing the exterior of the restaurant is also unique which gives you more privacy at your table. Hollywood & Vine can be loud and chaotic at times, on par with other character meals in that regard.

We love the food at both. Hollywood & Vine gets a bad rap sometimes, but having been one of the first breakfast seatings last year, the food was hot and fresh and very good to us. I would imagine being there at the start of dinner, it would be the same.

Garden Grill hands down! Although if you want character interaction H&V is better imo

GG food is always very good.Always try to get a reservation there whne we're down.

You have a much more intimate setting.Less noisy

H&V is loud & chaotic. We're older and don't have small children anymore so that might sway your decision. LOL

I would choose which characters you are most interested in. My opinion is both of these places are at the bottom when it comes to quality food and even at the bottom of the buffet options as well. But I will admit I am rather harsh toward buffet restaurants and only like Boma and if the mood strikes me Biergarten.

Garden Grill has a nice, constantly changing view, but Hollywood and Vine has much more variety of food.

Depending on when you're going, H&V may be doing Minnie's Seasonal Dine, so they'll be dressed up for the holidays. H&V has more variety & you get to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy & Goofy. Garden Grill is also delicious & the food is brought to you, but less variety. You get to see Chip & Dale, Mickey and Pluto. While we enjoyed H&V and would go back, we felt like Garden Grill has a better quality of food. Plus, you get to relax for a little bit & not have to keep running up to a buffet table.

when are you going? if during the christmas season I would choose H&V because the christmas costumed characters are IMO worth seeing there, and the christmas desserts are great too (I am not much of a dessert person). The character interaction was the best of our whole trip when we went there and the food was much better than the worst reviews would indicate.

I agree that the food is kind of equal quality at both and there is more variety at H&V so I'd probably pick that for that reason as well.

We always do GG for breakfast as I love the characters and relaxing experience, I am not as big of a fan of their lunch/dinner menu but I'd do it for lunch/dinner if I wanted to see chip and dale and wanted something more relaxing than a buffet.
