Hollywood...tour or car rental?

Contemplating the idea of a beach, Hollywood, the walk of fame etc and the Hollywood sign. We will have 3 kids in tow, 11, 10, and 6. Staying at the Grand. I'm not going to ask if its 'easy' to get around California, but are the signs well marked and does anyone have a suggested route. Ideally, we'd like to be be back at the hotel early enough on the evening?

Signs well marked but living in California I will tell u traffic and parking is terrible. Stay in tourist areas as thereb are some really bad parts of LA. Hollywood walk of Fame, Disney Fountain, ETC all next to each other. Movie studio tours r fun. If u can take hollywood tour with a co. Do it. Most homes blocked by tall gates.

“Hollywood”, the Walk of Fame and the famous sign are well marked and
close together. If you want to get close to the sign you will go about five
miles from Hollywood to Griffith Park.

To get to the beach you can drive along Santa Monica Blvd. - which is
Route 66 - directly from Hollywood to the beach. Well marked and about
a 30/40 minute drive depending on traffic along city streets.
