Hollywood Studios to Epcot.....the walk

So what do you suggest when staying at BC? Just walk the path or cut through the BW pool area?

This is great information to know. We'll be running the Wine & Dine Half Marathon in November and my wife and I have been debating how long it takes to get from HS to Epcot. She has used mapmyrun.com and it says it's 1.6 miles. I told her that it's less than 1.4. Obviously being married means I'm never right :rotfl2: but I think that this time I can prove that she is mistaken. :) I guess I better get the couch ready to sleep on tonight. :guilty:

If you are staying at the BC cutting through the BW pool area is only shorter if you are going from Epcot to HS or HS to Epcot. If you are coming to or from BC the normal path would be quicker because to cut through the pool you would be going the wrong way to or from BC. ;)

I'd say it probably depends on where your room is. If it's close to Epcot, take the bridge and cut through the pool area. If your room is closer to the pool, it may be faster to west around the Atlantic Dance Hall.

As a previous poster mentioned, this is why we prefer the Boardwalk. In addition to be cheaper than Y&B Club, it is centered more in the middle and presents an easy walk to two of the parks.

Well, tread lightly. The race route will not follow this path exactly. Instead of cutting through the Boardwalk Pool, it will go all the way around. The distance here might not be the same as it will be on a Garmin or other GPS device.

Thank you so much for this information. We are visiting WDW for the first time in mid-December. We are from Portland, Oregon and we love to walk!

Can you help me to understand how we can work this walk into our schedule/itinerary. We are staying the the new VGF resort.

Can you confirm... How do folks normally get from VGF to DHS? Shuttle bus?

I believe we can walk from VGF to TTC and then take the monorail from TTC to Epcot. yes? Then we can also walk to DHS is we want to spend a lot of time walking.

We would be grateful for any tips and suggestions for different ways to travel between VGF and the 4 parks.

Thanks!

My boyfriend and I are walkers and so we also walk to DHS whenever we're staying at an Epcot Resort (which we do most of the time.)

Frequently the distance and time of the walk between Epcot and Hollywood Studios comes up so on my trip last weekend I used my phone to track the walk.

I started tracking the walk from the bag check at HS and stopped it at the turnstiles of Epcot...As you can see, it was 1.12 miles and took us 21 minutes and 15 seconds at a leisurely pace.

It took us 22 minutes from the Beach Club to the front of HS, but my kids slowed us down a little and we were taking it easy

I would plan 25 minutes for most folks, from EP to HS.

We started walking from Epcot to MGM a few years ago. It's a lovely walk, and especially nice in the mornings or early evenings. We go during the dog days of summer, and did "the walk" in mid-afternoon once this last trip and damn near died of the heat. The CMs in the Boardwalk Bakery couldn't get us water fast enough!!

Most of the walk is in full-sun, so yeah, I bet you about died! Yikes!

For what it's worth, on those hot days, the inside of the friendship boats is incredibly hot too. We about evaporated on one boat trip from HS to the dock at the Yacht Club. That was a 93 degree sunny day with little to no breeze. :crazy2::crazy2:

If you leave through the main doors, you will not pass the front of BW. The quickest way is to walk past Yacht and over the swan and Dolphin bridge which puts you out on the side of Boardwalk.

I prefer Stormalongbay to saving 5 minutes of walking ;)

Do not "plan" walking into your day. :scared: Without even trying you will walk 10 miles a day. We clocked over 13 miles a day last month which is actually less than our normal 15 miles a day. WDW is HUGE, so it is all to easy to "get in those steps" without planning a single walking session. ;)

Sorry if this has been mentioned but if you cut through the BW pool area and through the 'tunnel' to the main steps that come down from the BW lobby you save significant time.

Thanks so much for this information! BWV has been our home resort for about 7 years and I never knew about this shortcut.

Thank-you for the maps.

Now the walk from the Magic Kingdom to Epcot....that's a different story.

There are two entrances to Epcot: the main entrance at the front of the park, and International Gateway, near the back. The monorail will drop you off at the main entrance, and the walk to DHS is from the back entrance. You'd have to walk all the way through Epcot to do it. Like PPs said, you will probably walk a minimum of 10 miles a day regardless of what you do. We walked 10-11 miles each day of our trip, and that was with shorter hours and a mid-day break of 3-4 hours every day.

But those walks are different. Once you start the walk from either the Swan or the Boardwalk to the Studios, you don't stop. And few people stop from the International Gateway to the Studios (and vice versa). So that 1.2 miles is a definite walk. The mileage done over the course of a day at a park is in much smaller increments with lots of stops. Yes, you might do 10 miles in a day in there are lots of sit downs on attractions, while eating, etc. Sure, your walk from Buzz Lightyear to Space Mountain counts but you have a rest on Buzz Lightyear and then again on Space Mountain. That's not really a walk -just part of many smaller jaunts that add up during the day.

We enjoy the walks. The parks are busy. The morning and evening walks give us a chance to talk about our days. Everything is usually hustle bustle and the strolls allow us to slow it down a bit.

We usually stay at BWV's and I love the walk. It is a good way to have some peaceful time.

We also love Starring Rolls at HS. So sometimes we walk there to get lunch and bring it back to the resort and eat a relaxing lunch!
