We are going in August, it will be me, my husband, our 9-year-old daughter and our 2-year-old (almost three!) son. We've been to both restaurants, we like both restaurants, but we can't decide which one we should go to. Can't ask our daughter because she doesn't know that we are going to Disney, and our baby was seven months on his last trip (we went to Sci Fi for the first time then) and wouldn't know what we were talking about anyway. We are on the dining plan, if that makes a difference to you.

Which is your favorite, and why? Do the little ones get freaked out in the dark at Sci Fi? He slept through it last time! :)

I voted for the Sci Fi but we disliked the food at 50's Primetime plus we got no interaction. We are Mystery Science Theater fans so the Sci Fi is perfect for us. Plus I like their chicken sandwich.

I think your kiddos are at the age where they'll love 50's! We thought the environment, food, and interaction was great. While Sci-fi is pretty cool, we didn't dig the food and I actually think some of the sci-fi films played might be a little much for a 3 year old (depending on the child).

:thumbsup2Ditto on this post! I totally agree. Our family has been to both, but continually goes back to 50's each trip. Our kids think it's great...have always had great interaction with the wait staff, too.

A little much as in the movies are older and didn't keep her attention or little much as in scared the heck out of her? I was thinking of going with 4 year old so curious to hear what you meant.

We've been to both with children about the same ages as yours. I don't think you will go wrong either way. Like the food at 50s more, but last visit had a bad server. We didn't have any trouble with my son when he was 3. He loved eating in the car and looking at the giant screen.

I agree with this....we went to Sci Fi in September and thought it was fun, mostly because of the atmosphere, but we really didn't care for the food. As for 50's, we really enjoy everything about this restaurant...everything from the antics, food, and the atmosphere.

Food is better at 50's but we always go to Sci Fi because the atmosphere is so great.

50's Prime Time to be sure - I love that fried chicken! :)

I have been to Sci Fi before. While the atmosphere is kinda cool the food wasn't good. For me an interesting atmosphere alone just isn't enough to bring me back to restaurant again - I'm there to eat so I need the food to be good! lol

My family votes for Sci Fi. We have always had a good meal and a good time here. My 5yo loves sitting in the cars. On the flipside we had an awful experience at 50's PTC last summer. We had no interaction and found the food to not be up to par. I asked my husband if he wanted to try again this summer and it was a resounding no.

Everyone says the food is better at 50's, but we are choosing Sci Fi because:

1. my boys are excited about the cars / movies
2. I am looking forward to the (hopefully) calm and quiet for a few minutes. Hopefully they will be mesmerized and no one will talk to me for a few minutes. :thumbsup2

Although we are probably going to give 50s a try this year for the first time.....really liked the Sci Fi except for the strangers sitting behind us in the same car. It felt kinda weird!

Both! Sci-fi is better for lunch food and the theming is fantastic, while Primetime is better for dinner. If you're on DDP, go for a fairly quick OOP lunch or dessert at Sci-fi and get a full dinner at Primetime. Given the relatively weak CS options at DHS, it's a decent plan.
