Hollywood Studios Parking/Driving Options

We are going to arrive mid-afternoon to HS a little less than a week after SWGE opens. We will have our car with us so I’m trying to decide our best plan for getting back to Pop Century that night.

1. Will it be hard to get a Minnie Van at park closing?
2. If we were to drive ourselves and pay for preferred parking how close does that really get us?
3. Is leaving by car just as bad as waiting for a bus at close?

We will be four adults and two kiddos with a double stroller so I’m just trying to weigh out my options here with us arriving mid-afternoon and wanting to stay until park close!

Looking at dates in early September, HS has Fantasmic at 8:30 and fireworks at 10pm with park closing at 10pm. My guess is that leaving at 10pm will be about the same for both as far as getting out of the park. The bus parking is a long way from the entrance now.

The bus lines may pile up after fireworks but I'm going more off of Magic Kingdom experiences.It has been a while since we rode a bus from HS at park closing. We pretty much always drive. I'm interested to hear what experiences others have had.
