Hollywood Studios meal? Or something else entirely?

Help (please!).

Okay, I've cross-posted this from the Families Section, hoping to find insight here as well! :thumbsup2

Sci-Fi lunch or Prime Time dinner?

I think my girls (2 & 5) might enjoy Sci-Fi more (just not sure they'd 'get' PT) and the kids menu there is preferable. But, I wonder if Prime Time might be a better choice overall - I've heard better food reviews and it's a better 'value' on the DDP (which I know is kind of goofy).

Or, do we go somewhere else entirely?

We will have Park Hopper passes, but I'm thinking DHS would be best just because of our other park plans:

Day 1: DHS? Dining . . .?
Day 2: Epcot, Princess Storybook dinner at Akershus
Day 3: MK morning, DHS evening, Fantasmic Package dinner at Mama Melrose's
Day 4: MK all day (likely w/ a break), dinner at 'Ohana
Day 5: AK morning, MK evening, dinner at the Crystal Palace

Any advice? TIA!!!

After going around and around about the same decision this is what I decided to do. I don't think we are going to spend more than 1 day at DHS, so I really don't want to go there twice just for meals. That being said, I am interested in trying both places since I haven't been to either.

I decided that my DD and I will eat a good breakfast than do a midday snack at Sci-Fi - get appetizers and shakes. Than do an earlier dinner at 50's Prime Time. That way I won't feel like we are stuffing ourselves with two big meals that day, we can leave the park kind of early if we want and we get to try both.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure about 2 days (or 2 partial days) at DHS . . . but, I'm concerned about the number of things we'd like to do there that are 'time-sensitive' (ie. scheduled) - Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, the new Block Party Bash Parade - and then we're looking forward to the Rock N Roller Coaster (closed for refurb last time we were there). Our 5yo dd can't wait to ride the Tower of Terror again (3 more times she says!), Test Track, and then the Fantasmic show (hence the Mama Melrose package).

Honestly, I was surprised as we've made up our 'wishlists' to learn that DHS has the 2nd longest list of "must-do's" behind MK. Part of that is also that we were just there last year, so there are many "if we have time" items for all the parks too.

I'm torn - primarily because (just like last year) I'm the one "designated" to make all the plans/ADR's/etc. At least this year there's only 'us' and my parents to please (instead of the 9 that went last year!)!

Oh! Plus I should mention that we're doing "free" dining - so 1 TS and 1 CS per day.

SCI FI ! My kids really liked the sitting in cars and watching a movie screen.

We received good service too. My son who was 12 didn't see anything on the menu and wasn't going to order. The server said "oh, we have hamburgers that are not on the menu................" I wish we had known that and maybe asked at other TS.

I'd do Sci Fi as well. That's just such a unique experience. And I'm sure your girls have never seen a "real" drive in before.

You said that the kids menu at Sci Fi was preferable and you didn't think the girls would "get" Prime Time.

I wouldn't base my decision on food reviews (everyone has their own opinion) and whether it's a better value on the dining plan. I'd base my decision on what would make my girls the happiest.

I do appreciate all those who weighed in with advice . . ..

But, we've ended up going in another direction entirely! ;) Hopefully this is the LAST tweak to our ADR's!

In order to ensure that our girls get to dine with Cinderella (which, as I understand it is not a given at our Akershus meal), and to give my mother a chance to peruse the GF, we're now having dinner at Cinderella's Gala Feast at 1900 Park Fare!

I figure I'd better take advantage of their "princess phase" while they're still young enough to *really* enjoy it! :lovestruck:

what we do at MGM (or whatever it's called these days...) is an early lunch at sci-fi (burgers, fries, shakes) and an early (first seating) dinner at the 50s (pot roast, brownie sundae) - after dinner, we're outta there....

only thing different we'd do would be a dinner at brown derby - i love the cobb salad and grapefruit cake - DH hates the place entirely (doesn't like the menu) - but even then, we'd take an early dinner at BD, then leave after
