Hollywood Dream - Rumor - (10/26/07) For the last several weeks I’ve been hearing a new rumor that honestly I just wasn’t ready to believe. Not that it wasn’t believable… but the way things are shaping up in 2009 for the Central Florida theme parks, it was just the icing on the cake for an park enthusiast’s dream come true. If the rumor holds out, we’ve heard that Universal Studios Florida may be planning on adding their very own version of the Hollywood Dream coaster added to Universal Studios Japan earlier this year. In that case, it was a family sized junior hyper-coaster style design made to swoop, turn and dive over the entrance and Hollywood themed area of Universal Studios Japan, all with an on-board soundtrack system allowing riders to choose one of five different soundtrack options. Now I’m hearing that a similar concept is in the works for Universal Studios Florida in 2009 since in all likelihood we wont see the Harry Potter area completed until late that year or in 2010. Universal’s previous track record says that they would buy a B&M most likely for this project, but right now if all the rumors hold true (SeaWorld & Busch Gardens), that means we could be seeing three new B&M coasters added to central Florida in 2009 along with a rumored spinning Ratatouille coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios followed by the rebirth of an all new version of Space Mountain as well. Like I said… a coaster enthusiasts dream come true. Do we dare to dream?

Hmmmm. Not too sure I like this idea.

Definitely not my choice for an added attraction. I'm sure my DS would disagree with me though. He'd love another coaster. Thanks for sharing the info. I hadn't heard anything about it.

Uh....where? :confused3 the Studios (in Orlando) aren't exactly "busting with space" ...kwim?? Looks like a cool coaster, but don't want it to "ruin" the "view"

Going slightly OT here: What are the rumors about the SW and BGT coasters? I haven't heard anything about those.

Hmmmm...I hadn't heard anything about those...nothing on Screamscape that I can find. :confused3

Heh, have you seen the pictures of the Japan version? It's right over the hollywood section...

I really don't like the idea as IMO it totally ruins the theming of that area.

Metro West:

Screamscape.com has reported several things about new coasters for SW and BG, maybe you're not looking in the right places?

Busch Gardens:
2009 - The Next Coaster - Rumor - (10/19/07) All the rumors about a B&M Hypercoaster are still holding the same as always, claiming that it would be built to load near the Stanleyville area. The layout is expected to be similar to Apollo’s Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and is expected to run back towards the first drop of Kumba and the Congo River Rapids area where they will likely place a spiral helix to turn the ride around and head back to the station again.

Sea World:
(10/22/07) A Screamscape source says that they were asked to take part in a guest focus group at SeaWorld Florida where they were showing off various different ideas for a new Flying Coaster in development for the park. One possible idea was to use shorter trains, only 3 or 4 rows long, but each would be themed as a different species of Ray: Manta Ray, Sting Ray, Bat Ray, etc. While no specific layout was given, the ideas being tossed around seemed a involve quite a bit of ground hugging which may imply a layout more like AIR and less like the Six Flags’ Superman versions. They did discuss with a bit of detail a very special element they want to feature hower, which would be a kind of water splashdown effect similar to what we’ve seen on SheiKra and Griffon, but in this case they want the coaster trains to swoop down over rolling waves, skimming the surface of the water. In fact, the tips of the Ray’s wings sticking out to the sides would dip into the water itself, tossing up big rooster-tails of water. I’ve got to say that I like this idea myself… especially if they had a nice prolonged skim over the water, allowing riders time to really reach out to try and touch it. I’m not sure about the short train design, but I suppose they could use a double loading station to fix the capacity issues.

Probably not...that's what I get for looking when I was tired.

Here's the Universal Studios Japan website. I've looked for photos to see what this coaster is like. The only ones I've located online are at this official website.

What makes it special? The speed? Air time? The seating?

Lisa,

You can do a quick search on YouTube and see the coaster in action. It's especially gorgeous at night since it's covered in LED lights.

I'd take the coaster but I would prefer that the different Universal's get varying attractions because I really will visit USJ when I'm adopted by rich people. (Takers?)

So according to Screamscape we might be seeing 4 new coasters in the Florida parks in the next couple of years.Hollywood Dream at USF,a hyper at BGT,a floorless at Sea World and a Ratatouille wild mouse at MGM/Hollywood Studios.I'll tell you what,I'll be jumping for joy if we get 3 out of 4 of these to happen.

Don't forget new Simpson's ride, new Harry Potter dark ride (Strongarm) and Toy Story Mania. I'm thinking about giving 2008 a miss and coming back in 2009 or later to hit all the new ones. It is exciting.
