Stephen, (from Hungary --if he was wearing the proper name tag--you know how they borrow name tags) was a true gentleman and a very professional server!
DH and I both had the mixed field greens with a wine vinaigrette and cranberry blue cheese dressing. What an interesting flavor the cranberries gave the blue cheese! We really liked our salads!
DH, me and our two oldest sons ordered the grilled filet mignon with mashed potatoes and tomato bordelaise. We like our meat well done so they butterflied the steaks and they were cooked very nicely still maintaining some moistness. The potatoes were very good. I felt the sauce was a bit strange tasting with the meat. It just didn't seem to be a complimentary flavor, IMO--but DH loved it.
The kids had grilled chicken. The older son felt it was way too dry. The 10 year old thought it was great.
For dessert we ordered vanilla bean creme brulee (at Stephen's suggestion.) I asked our server if the sugar was nice and hard on top as I had remembered someone on the DIS mentioning being unhappy with their sugar topping. He assured me it was. It wasn't. I was unimpressed with this creme brulee. Other family members ordered the chocolate torte. Not impressed. It was ok. Oldest son had some kind of cheese cake that he liked very much.
Overall, I don't think our family would rush to get back to HBD but neither would we go to great lengths to avoid it. We'll probably try it again in 4-5 visits. (This was our 4th or 5th visit to HBD.)
