Looking to do a tour of the Chinese Theater, Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory and some other "hot spots" (no interest in driving by or looking at celebrities or their homes). Any recommendations? Here in NYC we have big double decker buses that drive around the "hot spots" - so wondering if there's anything like that in the Hollywood area.

Thank you :)

We did this one last March. Was about 7-8 hours and hit all the major spots: Venice, Santa Monica Pier, La Brea Tar Pits, Chinese Theater/Hollywood Blvd, Beverly Hills/Rodeo Dr area, Los Angeles Farmers Market (lunch stop). We also had a smaller group so we were able to stop by Staples Center, Disney Concert Hall and California Science Center. All were about 20-45 min stops, depending on the spot. Really enjoyed it and our tour guide was the owner so he went all out.

You may wish to dig through the archives; there's quite a bit of discussion on this topic :)! Please note that these tours are price and personally, I'd recommend against them. As I repeatedly write, Los Angeles' public transportation system is inexpensive (there's a variety of passes) and will take you to where ever you would like to go. You can take the Metrolink into Downtown Los Angeles from either Anaheim or Fullerton (both are convenient to Disneyland; parking is free but you also get free ART access at Anaheim); the price is about RT$20 per adult (on weekends, it's $10 all day) and kids ride free (three per adult!) until they reach high school (I know, weird cut off). From Union Station/DTLA, you can find a bus or train to anywhere you'd like. (There are also one-day, one-week, etc. passes available that combine multiple modes of transportion.)

This way, you can create your own tour of whatever you'd like to see, spending as little or as much time as you'd prefer. You don't have to worry about navigating traffic, or finding a place to park - which can be a major challenge in popular areas. If you do prefer to take a scheduled tour, check out Groupon for deep discounts, but note that this generally won't include transportion to/from Anaheim - which isn't a bad thing at all, since you save time and money. Also note that scheduled tours will often skip stops if they're running behind schedule, which is common due to traffic congestion.

I recommend Starline Tours. They have a "Hop-On Hop-Off" double decker bus. There are several different options with different price points.

Second this. They have a stop right in front of the Hollywood & Highland shopping center, right next to the Chinese Theatre.

We are doing one through Anaheim Tour Company. They have preset tours or you can do a personalized one. They have been super nice and responsive so far.
