What are some suggestions for doing Hollywood and Universal solo? I'm a woman in my mid 20s and I'm moving to Cali at the beginning of July from the midwest. I don't mind doing things alone, so I'm looking for the best things that you all would recommend that I do. I'm also have a fine art degree and a photographer, so I love and appreciate artsy stuff. Thanks!

The easy thing to do is just take the subway to or park your car at the Hollywood & Highland garage and self-explore. Everything is there and walkable - Mann's Chinese, the H&H complex, the tourist trap (yet still fun) museums, El Capitan, the stores, a good view of the Hollywood sign, the Hollywood Bowl, the shuttle bus to Griffith Observatory (a must do!), etc.

To get to Universal, leave your car at the garage and take the subway to Universal City. You'll be there in less five minutes and save the parking.
