Holidays at PO or POLY??

We are taking my in-laws 12/27-1/3. My FIL is arthritic and will have to have the use of a scooter/chair. When the trip was only four days long we were at the POLY. Now that we have extended to a week, I booked rooms at PO. We will have to have two rooms. After reading the nightmarish accounts of the PO transportation - I'm getting worried. PO will be $3000 for 2 rooms while the POLY will be closer to $7500. Any suggestions as to what we should do?? We've stayed at PO before and really like it. We've also stayed at GF and have become spoiled with the monorail. Is there another moderate that might be better????

Given that a lot of the guests at CSR are there for business, you may have better luck with the transportation system there (you're also going to be at WDW during one of the busiest, if not the busiest, weeks of the year). I doubt that transportation is going to be "easy" or "pleasant".

Another thought: Stay at the less expensive resort, rent a scooter/chair for off property and have it delivered to your resort. Plus, rent a large car or van. Use the transportation to go to MK and drive everywhere else.

Moderate-wise, maybe Colorado Springs. I understand that they have dedicated bus service out of that resort without the additional resort/water park stops. Hopefully some one will pipe in with more CSR info as I have never stayed there. Good luck with your planning!

I've stayed at POR twice during Christmas week, 2005 and 2006. I thought the bus transportation was great. No long waits to speak of, IMHO. We had a rental car but I choose to take the bus to the parks because its usually easier. My DD, a teen, thought the buses were terrible because a lot of standing buses was involved. We were together on the trips - we just have different opinions or memories on the bus service! Poly buses can be a pain at times too.

I think you'll be fine at POR. With all the $$ you save you could rent a car or take taxi's everywhere you want. POR is beautiful, especially at Christmas. Enjoy

POR is beautiful, I have an Handicapped room reserved for Nov. and I am renting a car so I don't have to rely on the busses. you can rent a stow and Go van from the disability line at Alamo which will hold the scooter. You don't pay parking so the only cost is the car itself and you can come and go as you like.
