What can you tell me about this place? Is it nice? Run down? Rides in good condition? Clean?

My parents are thinking of taking my older son and my neice there for a few days and I don't know anything about it. They're planning on staying at the camping site nearby and renting a cabin/RV.

And please don't say it's "not Disney". I know that. ;)

Never heard of it, but I just looked it up. Looks pretty cool!

http://www.holidayworld.com/index.html

There's a section about, "what guests say", in the left hand column. You might get some information from that. Sorry, I don't have first hand experience, but someone around here will. No doubt. :)

I haven't been there in a while, but my kids have and their friends, in fact going again this week.

They love it. No it's not disney, but this is a nice place. It's got roller coasters and water rides, free sunscreen and I think drinks too.

They love it :)

It is clean, very. The rides are in good condition too. Most of them are pretty new. I know they weren't there when I was a kid. The last time I was there was just for a couple hours and I had a new baby. I don't remember much of anything about that visit. lol

Holiday World is one of the nicest parks you'll ever visit!!!!!

Family owned. They won numerous awards for their friendly staff and for their roller coasters.

They even have FREE softdrinks in the park, and FREE sunscreen in the water park.

I wish I was there NOW..... :thumbsup2

Thanks! Glad to hear good reviews! Free soft drinks, huh? Oh DH would love that. Maybe we should go too. :teeth:

I posted a thread about this a few days ago. It is burried on here somewhere :rotfl:
We are wanting to try it out in August. We are also from the St. Louis area, and I like that it would only be a 3 hour drive. I have heard nothing but good about it. I am just wondering where to stay. I am trying to make it a lower budget trip since we just did a big Disney trip in May.

We went w/a group of families and had a wonderful time. It's very clean and very family oriented. The free soda is wonderful. There aren't many place to stay nearby unless you stay at the hotel that is affiliated w/the park. I cannot remember the name of the town we stayed in but it was a good 30 minute drive to the park from there.

That is what I am figuring out. Right now I have 1 night booked at a Drury Inn in Evansville. I figured we could stay there for the first night, then head to the park in the morning. It is a great price..like $69, free hot breakfast. Where is a good place to purchase the park tix?

After looking at the website it jogged my memory...we stayed in Jasper. Quite a few of the Days Inn/Holiday Inn type places there.

Since we had enough people we got a group rate. That info is on the Holiday World website as well. Someone else organized the trip so I don't remember the exact prices any more.

Also, here's a link to the "League of Their Own" field if you have any interest. http://www.duboiscounty.org/attractions/HuntStadium.htm. My sis and her family took a tour there, and the man giving the tour asked them if they were going to Holiday World. When he found out they were, he gave them 2 or 3 complimentary tickets (they are a family of 7) so that was a nice little bonus for them. ;)

You know, I tried to do a search, just in case, but it wasn't working this morning. :rotfl:

My parents just told me about this yesterday, so I don't have details yet. She mentioned something about a nearby campground that rents RVs. There was something like that linked on the holiday world site. I'm assumming that's what they are talking about. I think there was a list of nearby hotels too.

Well how cool! I wonder if I could get so lucky :) I had no idea about that movie being filmed there. That might be something to see! Thanks! Believe it or not, a lot of the hotels that the Holiday World site mentions, are booked up for the weekend we want to go.

Lake Rudolph is right next to Holiday World. We have stayed there twice and rented a king size RV. The cabins look nice also. They sell discount tickets to the park. They also have a shuttle to and from the park....or.....it's a 10 minute walk from there to Holiday World.....or........You drive out of Lake Rudolph, make a left, drive a few hundred feet and you are at Holiday World's parking lot, which is free by the way.

Holiday World is not run down at all. Cleanest park I"ve ever been to. Throughout the park there are little buildings ( about the size of restrooms) where you get your free pop, self serve. Food is cheap for an amusement park, sunscreen is free at the water park and the coasters are really good (all wooden). My kids like rides like the scrambler and the bumper cars and traditional rides like that. The water park is really nice. I think your son will enjoy it.

When we went to Holiday World, we stayed in Tell City, Indiana.

The drive to the park from Tell City is even fun....the road winds through the country side, with several little hills which really simulate the "bunny hops" you find on a rollercoaster.

We also went to the Abraham Lincoln Boyhood site/park/memorial....it was pretty interesting.
