I woke up this moring and couldn't get back to sleep, so I turned my computer on and got ready early for work so I could check e-mail and such.
I was surfing this site when I remembered that AP rates came out and so on a whim I decided to call WDW reservations and see if any AP discounts were available for my possible Dec 26-Jan 3 trip with my girlfriend to WDW. At this point we had basically ended all hope that we could stay at any on-site place other than the value resorts and a standard room at on of the moderates.
We really wanted to stay in savanna view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge but at 457.15 a night (rack rate on wdw.com) this was not going to happen.
Before I left I programed dis reservation number into my cell phone and started off to work. While on the way to work, Angie got on the phone from WDW and after explaining to her that I was looking for an AP rate for Dec 26 to Jan 3, she came back and told me that they have a Savanna View Room at AKL for 154 a night plus tax (171.71). You better believe that I jumped on this rate as fast as I could. Even Angie could not believe how much of a discount I was getting off of the rack rate.
As I figure it, the AP rate saved me around $2285 and ending up being between a 60% and 65% discount.
The funny thing is, that I could not find a pen in my car and it just happens that I was at work, so Angie stayed on the phone, while I got out of the car, went up 5 stories got to my desk at work and found a pen to write down the amount, the deposit and the reservation number. We chit chatted the whole time and she told me that by like 800 am this morning they had atleast 200 calls coming in asking to make reservations or change them to an AP rate. She could not be more helpful if she tried. She was truly wonderful.
