Holiday pricing premiums?

Hello,

I've seen some references to buffet restaurants having higher prices during peak seasons. Does anyone know the dates for this pricing? I called WDW dining today to ask if the peak pricing was still in place and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Thanks!
K

I see there was no answer to this question a month ago. I have the same question. We will be at WDW about the 3rd week of December. Does anyone know how many days before Christmas the seasonal pricing goes into effect at the buffets?

It usually coinsides with the holiday or peak pricing at the resorts. For 2010 12/17 - 12/31, and ALL summer 6/04/10 through 8/14/10.

here are last year's dates:

May 24 - July 11, 2009 (peak summer season)

So I think it is pretty safe to say, the rates go up not quite a week before Memorial day to a week after 4th of July....

HTH...we are on the DDP, and will not be affected by this, but I personally think that this is dirty pool. there's no 'real' reason to increase the prices by $4 when there is absolutely no difference in the menus... :sad2:

no the increase pretty much ends a week after 4th of July...

not all resort levels are considered peak thru 8/14.
The deluxes such as GF, CR, Poly, etc... are reg season as of 7/5 and change to value season as of 7/18 until 9/30...

the values and mods are the ones with the summer season rates thru 8/14...

HTH :goodvibes

Sorry for the confusion. I meant the peak pricing for the DDP. The basic DDP pricing is increased for the same periods that the dining surcharge is in effect.

From Mousesavers for the DDP packages: Starting in 2010, the additional cost (on top of a regular Magic Your Way package) varies depending on the time of year:

1/01/10 - 2/11/10, 4/11/10 - 6/03/10, 8/15/10 -12/16/10 is $41.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).

2/12/10 - 4/10/10, 6/04/10 - 8/14/10, 12/17/10 - 12/31/10 is $46.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $12.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).

Is this new to 2010? I don' t remember it in 2008, anyway.

The peak season upcharge/surcharge of 4.00/adult and 2.00/child plus tax, has been loaded into the dining computers for months now. It goes from first week of June until mid August, it ends right before Free Dining starts. I don't have the exact dates handy in front of me, but I think Tinka-belle above has it correct - the Dining Dept. doesn't have an official memo on this, so you have to ask them to check a non-peak time, and a peak time, and compare both, or, you can book a dummy CRT reservation for non-peak and peak and you'll see the upcharge/surcharge in effect.

Hope this helps, Tiger

Thanks, tinka-belle. I'll try to stick to non-affected restaurants 12/17 & after.

We used Dreams Unlimited for booking dining reservations for Thanksgiving week and as of when we booked our agent told us there was no premium holiday pricing for any of our meals. We are eating at Cape May on Thanksgiving so I wanted to plan the price accordingly.

I thought Thanksgiving was a peak upcharge time period, just like Easter, Christmas and summer are.

Disney doesn't advertise the upcharge at all, but it's been loaded into computers for months now, and Thanksgiving prices should be in there, so it would be easy to see if the upcharge is there.

Good luck in getting it straightened out, Tiger :)
