Holiday pricing = DDE card invalid

i just read it on the chef mickey price increase. it says, "disney dining experience card excluded during holiday pricing which falls under my dec. 20th adr. isn't that considered the Dec. 16-jan. 5th pricing? i hope i am wrong!

The term "Holiday Pricing" dosen't sound good. The 20th isn't the holiday but it is certainly in that 12/16 to 1/5 window.
I REALLY hope they aren't doing this at Chef Mickey, much less all the other restaurants.
I hope you are wrong too!!!

I just called Disney Dining and asked about dining at Chef Mickeys during the weeks of "holiday pricing". I asked the CM to see if it said anything about whether the DDE card would be accepted during that time. He looked and read from his screen "the DDE is not accepted on holidays". I said "does that mean just holidays or all the weeks of the holiday pricing and he said all the weeks of the holiday pricing. But who knows!! I don't know that we'll know for sure till we get there!!! For us we just ended up adding on the dining plan (first time trying that) even though we have the DDE card.

Sure sounds like an abuse of "terms subject to change" if Disney extends to the holiday blackout dates to weeks around the holiday.

i wonder if this applies to all the restaurants or just certain ones. we have adrs for ohana for dinner, whispering canyon for lunch on the 21st, and i will go ahead and cancel chef mickey today because that one is a definate no dde discount and price increase! thanks so much for everyone's help. i love the dis!!

Lewisc: I Agree. The 16th to the 5th is a period of THREE WEEKs!! And that's not counting the Thanksgiving "Holiday pricing" week.
I can understand the actual Holidays themselves-- and they are up front about that. But this seems a bit extreme.

mousiemom: As I understand the rules, each restaurant can decide whether or not to "expand" the DDE exclusion apart from the stated blackout Holidays themselves. And the rules suggest that we should call the individual restaurant to find out!! Even tho we don't make reservations through the individual resaturant.
Stay tuned, I guess---

This is my take on things. IF and no one really knows at this time, but if some restaurants (or management resort wide) have decided to have a holiday blackout period that extends beyond the original 8 days, they have every right to do that legally. They aren't going to make themselves many new friends in the process, but that doesn't mean they can't do it.

But if they have already made that decision and told Disney Dining, but not DDE, then that upsets me more than extending the blackout dates.

Disney Dining told me on 7/4 that it was valid, she read me the computer screen. I was calling about Crystal Palace on 12/16. I booked this several weeks before and wanted to call and clarify the price, and I asked and she said that it wasn't blacked out.
