Yeah, just wanted to make a reminder to everyone that holiday :confused3 pricing is in full effect right now at buffets. I had sticker shock at Boma's last night when I got the bill that stated $30.99 (plus tax)!!!!

I can't eat $30.99 worth of food - especially without any seafood! I don't know how they can charge that much for what they do offer.

So just wanted to warn ya'll. Happy eats!

:faint: Ouch! I seriously don't understand how Disney can charge holiday prices with no holiday:upsidedow

Holiday pricing runs from May 25th to July5th then again during Thanksgiving week Not sure of the dates of that yet.Yes I agree it seems unfair, but not unusual in the restaurant biz to raise prices during peak dining periods.I know certain restaurants in NYC raise prices for holidays etc.So this is no shock that Disney has found a way to bilk people out of more money.

I'm thinking of cancelling 2 of my ADR's because of the price increase. I can't justify $150 for a buffet dinner. At least for me I'll still be there after July 5th so I can try to change my ressies.

Um, does this affect useage of the dining plan? I have lots of ressies for Thankgiving week!

"Holiday pricing" is a joke....things like this just tarnish the magic a bit for me.
If enough people complain maybe something will be done.

So after July 5th it goes back to normal? thank goodness. I wanna eat in Disney a few more times during my trip (June 30th - July 14th). as I have 3 ADR's on Independence weekend.

Does that mean maybe the crowds will calm down a little after Independence day too?

Where else do they do holiday prices for resturants? Never heard of it. New York, LA, Atlanta? I know about hotel price increases elsewhere, but not resturants.

You'll pay the std rate for the DP, no DP price hike for this time of year.

I know. Its just a way to rip people off and make the ddp look better. I guess they have to pay for free dining somehow.

Well of course Disney wants us to buy the DP and honestly with this pricing if you're going to do a number of TS meals its a good fiscal decision: its a discount program. If you're not a candidate for the DP try to make ADRs at places not impacted by the temporary hikes. Its not every TS restaurant. The hike is supply and demand; no different than what occurs at the pump on holiday weekends.

oh that is just wrong! I didn't realize they did this. Having done restaurant management I can tell you you make more profit across the board during busy times due to bulk buying and such. Not fair to raise prices when folks are already dealing with larger crowds in the parks. Nope.....Walt would not approve!!!!!

In case you didn't notice...Walt Disney Co isn't that concerned these days at what Walt would and would not approve of.They function like any other major Corp. these days. But to answer the PP questions. If you go to www.allears.net and look under dining and then restaurant news, that is where they usually post the dates for holiday surcharges. As of now the summer surcharge ends July 5th.The next will be Thanksgiving week. There were talks of making ALL of December thru the New year a dining surcharge period. But there is no confirmation of that yet.The surcharge is mostly for buffets. This is stinkers, but they apparently can do what they want because people still pay it.As I said some of the finer restaurants in major cities, like NYC do the same thing. The difference is they just increase the price of each entree instead of adding a single surcharge to the meal.Unless you were a frequent diner at some of these places, you may not even realize you were paying it.

Exactly. And another difference is that Disney World didn't do this until last year. And whenever Disney World makes a change that costs more money, people start complaining about it.

We used to be able to get an annual passholder rate of $49 at a value resort. Those days are gone. We stay offsite now.

We ate at the Biergarten last year the Saturday after Thanksgiving when the holiday pricing was in effect. But we paid the same as we would have if not for the increase. Because we ate lunch instead of dinner.

No one is forcing anyone to pay the prices. You don't want to pay, then don't. If something makes you mad enough to complain, just quit doing it.

I'm totally ticked off about those wheat buns at Disney World. I've stopped eating the hamburgers and hot dogs. I do not starve.

And is the food the same, or do they have "holiday type" foods? B/c if they tweaked the menu a little for the holidays, then it would be understandable. But if not, then that's just ripping us off....

I know that there are some restaurants that have a special Christmas menu on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The holiday surcharge doesn't just cover the "holidays" so the food is the same. The only time they add holiday items is Thanksgiving day, and Christmas day .I think the wording on the surcharge throws people off, because it is called a holiday surcharge but it is not just charged on holidays but around peak periods( what disney considers peak)

I will be going to Disney for the second time for free dining in September. When we get to go back again hopefully in the next few years I will want to go during the cooler months. There is no way that I would pay these prices for these resturants. Disney can call it what they want, it is a rip off!! But if some people are willing to pay, then they can charge what they want!
