Can someone point me to what attractions get changed over for which holiday and approximately when they go down for the overlay and then to remove the overlay? I will be in Souther Cal the week before Thanksgiving and I am considering stopping by DLR for a visit (I have never been there!!)

It's A Small World and Haunted Mansion will both have Holiday additions. If you have never been to Disneyland..... you need to go. It is beautiful, especially with everything decorated for Christmas. As far as the park looking its best...... Christmas is the time to see it.

Thanks for the info!! I am actually planning a trip for my whole family next August and I am VERY excited about it. (See my post in the Transportation forum about losing my expired airline miles and finally getting them back!!) But since I'll be there on biz in Nov this year, I was looking for a sneak peak. I have been to WDW many many times, including xmas time, but I have never to DLR even though in a previous job, I used to travel to Orange County several times a year (which is how I accumulated so many miles). I just never made it to the park; plus the whole "solo traveler" idea dissuaded me.

Anyway, for this post, I am curious about when the attractions are going to be down for the overlays and/or down to remove the overlays. I saw on that Space Mountain has a Halloween overlay too. So, my question is when (approximately) do they go down to remove the Halloween overlay and when (approximately) do they go down to add the Xmas overlay?? Those are the activities that may fall into my travel window.

Well, the Space Mountain overlay is for Halloween, so you will miss that version of it. But nothing significant is going to be down the week before Thanksgiving when you go, as that is the second week of the official holiday season. We have never had the Halloween Space Mountain overlay before, so this is all new territory, but presumably they will take it down right after Halloween and it will be back up and running in regular form within a couple of weeks. IASW Holiday and HMH will be up and running when you go. Nothing like that will be down, if you are going the week before Thanksgiving.

HM is going down for its overlay in a couple of days, and will reopen by or before 9/25, for the Halloween season, as HMH. I assume Space Mountain is down now or about to go down for the Halloween overlay and will also be open by 9/25. IASW goes down in late October, I think, or the very beginning of November for the IASWH overlay, and will be open this year by 11/13. So you are fine. You will see IASWH and HMH. You will miss the SM overlay, but it is only for Halloween, so that makes sense.

Cool! Thanks for the info. I would like to see the overlays but more importantly, the attraction itself. Space Mountain is different than the WDW version, so missing the overlay is not a big deal as much as missing the attraction because it is down. Depending how long it is down to remove the overlay, that one may be in jeopardy. I'll be there 11/15 and 11/16 so it will be close.

Thanks again for the info!! I'll keep my eye on Space Mountain.

I don't think SM will be down, unless, for some reason, they extend the Halloween overlay by opular demand and therefore, wait longer to remove the overlay. But otherwise, since the Holiday season is when DLR expects to get large crowds, they want to have as few attractions down as possible. That is one of their busiest times of year. This year, the hooiday season is actually starting one week earlier than it normally does (11/13 as opposed to 11/20), so I think you will be fine. I don't think it will take long to remove the SM overlay. I am guessing it is not as elaborate as the IASWH and HMH overlays.
