Holiday Overlays at DL

I saw on last week's America's Funniest home Videos that HM has a Nightmare Before Christmas add on (which I knew about) but there is also a holiday overlay at ISAW too. What else does DL offer at Christmas time?

We went to WDW to see the Christmas decorations in 2009 and will be headed back next year, but now we are considering DL also.

Also, I know that between Christmas and New Years, WDW is insanely busy. Is the same for Disneyland?

Yes. It's insanely busy between Xmas and NY. HMH and IASWH are the only holiday overlays for rides at this point. WOC this year has a holiday scene and speculation is that some day there will be a full holiday show. I'd check out the Christmas thread for more info and pictures about Disneyland Christmas.

DLR, has a lot of lights in New Orleans Square(a land unique to DL. It does not have the Christmas Parties. It has a special fireworks and parade daily for the season. A special version of WoC in DCA.

And yes it is super busy during that week just like WDW is.

Both of the overlays are top notch. I think the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion overlay is better than the original. IASM is also quite good (I mean great!). They are both worth the price of admission.

Per square foot, Disneyland definitely has more decorations than WDW. There are 700 Christmas trees alone in the resorts and parks! NO Squatre beautiful and festive; Critter Country is all decorated, the whole area around IASW has unique wreaths. The tree in the Grand Californian lobby reminds me of pictures I've seen of Wilderness Lodge. And who knows what fun holiday stuff they'll have in California Adventure after they finish the expansion?

Don't even get me started on the goodies and treats! (drooling on self)

Unless they introduce the Christmas parties like at WDW, almost everything at DL is included with admission -- parade, snow, fireworks, etc. There is a fun holiday tour that we took last year that costs extra.

There is a whole "Disneyland at Christmas" thread here with a table of contents, oodles of pictures, and lots of helpful contributors. I am sad I don't get to go back this year during that time.
