Not sure if I've made a mistake.

I bought admission for December 9th, thinking I would get a full day at disneyland. However now I've found there is a holiday event in the evening, and the park is listed to "close" at 7pm. I never bought a ticket to this holiday party which I guess is totally separate. All that money for not even 12 hours and no fireworks? I spoke to someone through the app and they claim I have to leave by 7pm.
What's the deal here? Are they going to start escorting guests out? Did I mistakenly buy a short day ticket?

You have the option to cancel your reservation and use the ticket on a different day (although right now December reservations are full, you'd have to keep checking the calendar to see if anything opens up). If you have a park hopper, you'd also have the option to hop to the other park if it is open later.

Anyone without a ticket to the Merriest Nite event will have to leave by 7 PM. The procedure for clearing the park of non-event guests has been that there will be castmembers stationed at various places in the park (e.g. at the entrances to the lands) checking for wristbands. Only those with the event wristbands will be able to go farther into the park. Without a wristband you will be directed towards Main Street and the park exit.
