Hi everyone

I am so thrilled to be back on the boards again. My old computer is out and my new gateway is in!!!

My husband and I are planning our 2nd trip to Universal this Christmas/New Years 2004. We did the same thing in 2001 and had a great time. Although security was at an all time high (3 months after the 9/11 tragedy), there were many people at the parks.

I reserved a one-bedroom suite at the Holiday Inn Universal for a (entertainment card rate) of $84.50 per night.

We stayed at this hotel in 2001 (standard room) and were pleased with our stay.

Has anyone stayed in one of their suites???? We requested a renovated suite, but we know thats not guaranteed.

I checked packages at universals website and I think I can do better booking everything separately, including air. If I can get good airfare, I could save as much as $125.00 per person, but we shall see.

Thank for your thoughts and suggestions.

Have you checked on staying on site? That is a busy time and FOTL will be so beneficial during that time. Other than that, the location of the Holiday Inn is great, just no FOTL.

I thought about staying onsite, but the lowest rate we could find at that time period was at Royal Pacific for $199.00 per night. That is a bit much for 4 nights.

These are rates we got online, I will probably call the hotel directly, and ask about the E-card and AAA rates..

My husband really wanted to stay at Portofino, but their rates were $259.00 on quickbook, and $329.00 at the hotel site. YIKES!:earseek:

Hotel kingdom seems to be the best place to try don't forget to ask at hotel about APH rates:jester:

if you are going to stay off site and would like to stay at a holiday inn look here first

www.priorityclub.com

when you select you hotel try this one

holiday inn mercado or sometimes it is listed as holiday inn convention center the address is

8214 Universal blvd.

you can book your entertainment rate at this website I found this hotel to be listed as 59.95 for the entertainment rate plus tax.

These rooms also included a microwave and fridge. They have breakfast everymorning and if an adult in your party buys breakfast the children eat free.

We have stayed there three times and are planning to stay there again.

the one and only down side is it has a small pool. but bonus there is a supermarket behind the building it is within walking distance.

Hello!

I stayed in one of their suites in June of 2001. It was huge! It had two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a room in between the two. It was a great place and I would highly recommend it.
