Has anyone stayed at the HI Sunspree Resort lately? I made reservations there using the "next night free" promotion. The price is pretty good but I'm concerned about how crazy the place may be with all the kids.

Also, on their site, it says that you can walk to Downtown Disney. When I look at map, it looks like there is a major highway (SR #4)in between. Is walking really feasible????

I saw some posts which said this place is run down. However I was told that the place was renovated back in April/May.

Any feedback from people that have returned recently would be appreciated.

Getting excited -- one month fro today I should be in sunny Orlando, getting ready to see all the wonders of Disney!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I haven't been there in 4 years, but liked it then. I will be going at Christmas. I can't wait to hear your report.
As for walking to downtown Disney..........No way! It is on a busy street and you'll probably die before you get there. It would be a very long walk.

Sharon,
My wife, myself and our children-10, 7, & 4-stayed in a Kidsuite back in October. I have mixed feelings about being there. I have no complaints with the room. We had a king size bed, a very big bathroom, an in-room coffee maker, and of course the area for the kids. My only complaint would be that much of the activity and customer focus of the hotel seemed to be shut-down while we were there. This was during the October off-season. Also, the restaurant situation on site wasn't very good but you are in close proximity to many restaurants. For us, the trip was all about going to the parks and we didn't spend that much time at the hotel so it really didn't matter to us. My children loved the pool.
You will not be able to walkto DTD, but it is a very short drive of maybe 5 minutes. The hotel is very convenient to the parks. If we were doing a commando-attack-the parks trip I would likely stay there again. If I was spending a lot of my time at the hotel I would probably opt for a nicer environment. Our room was $69 a night and I felt we got fair value for the money.
Let me know if I can answer more questions.

Thanks for the info. I was getting a little worried when I saw some earlier posts -- We just need a place to sleep, but do want it to me clean and pleasant. The appeal was price (w/promo it's $50/night!) and location was good. We plan on splitting time between WDW and US/IOA so being near highway probably is a good thing.

Did your room have a microwave and frig? Were they in good condition?

Just one question, did you kids participate in any of the daily kid activities such as movies and other things? If so, did they enjoy?

Our room had both the microwave and frig. The refigerator was great what with the price of drinks on site. The microwave was fine but a little on the small side. The only on-site activity our children participated in was using the pool. There is a movie theatre and it was showing something every time I went down there. You can also rent movies on site.
