If you currently have reservations booked at the "soon-to-be" finished Holiday Inn at DTD anytime prior to at least Dec. 15th you should start looking for another hotel for your stay.

While checking my HI Priority Club ressie it said that the hotel is now accepting reservations for "arrivals after Jan. 15, 2010" so I emailed the hotel to see what exactly that meant. Does it just mean that they were booked to capacity until Jan. 15th? Does it mean that they've run into construction and/or permitting issues and they won't be open by then? Why haven't I been notified if it is the latter issue since I've had my ressie with them for 12/4-12/5 for a couple of months?!?!?

Got an email back saying that "The simplest answer is that we now are being told by our Construction Company and local governments that our opening in November will be pushed back 30 days." Later the gentleman said "We may make up some ground but I don't feel we will be open when you arrive on 12/4. We are looking around to see what options we can give our current guests but that information will most likely be available around October 1st. You may wish to make other arrangements on your own." :headache:

Why wasn't an email notice sent out to people with current standing ressies for this particular hotel?!?!? I'm more than a little annoyed!!!!

So..... as an FYI if you have a ressie prior to Dec. 15th, or even during December, you might want to go ahead and start looking for something else right now.

I called today and got basically the same answer. The only difference was they told me to call back next week and they would hope to have more info. I have not booked my air and was really only able to afford the trip with this great deal!!!! I can't believe they didn't notify me - I saw on the website they are taking reservations afte sometime in January and I called them!!!!

Glad you both posted. I have a reservation for 12/19 for three nights and now it's on my radar to hear what they have to say about "other arrangements", find something else or just cancel my trip. I hate to do that because I've never seen the Christmas decorations but this HAS to be a budget trip! :goodvibes

The main HI reservation line gave me a "curtesy reservation" at the at the SunSpree Lake Buena Vista for about $15 more per night than the HI DTD rate. I can go online and book the same resort using the "Advanced Purchase" rate for less than that so depending on what they say come Oct. 1st I might be doing that.

I am thinking, and hoping, that they take their existing reservations for people that booked from 11/15 - 1/15/10 and find comparable accommodations at the same rate. We added a day onto the beginning of our vacation because of the great rate they were offering and are taking newbies with us so this is not the greatest snafu to have.

I think what has chapped my rump about the whole thing is that they had to have known for at least a week that there would be no way that they'd be opening by 11/15 and the fact that they haven't contacted anyone with existing ressies doesn't set well with me.

It didn't look anywhere near ready when we drove past in early September so I'm not surprised, but it certainly would have been nice if they'd emailed guests to let them know.

Your reservations were more than a year in advance. I am very surprised that they were taking reservations from people for December 2010 already in the first place.

We made our 12/2009 ressies for the DTD HI in July when their site said that they were taking reservations for guests arriving after 11/15/09. But now they are taking reservations for guests arriving after 01/15/10. So basically they have two months of guests that are now without a hotel reservation and who haven't heard anything from HI regarding this.

Somehow I read this as Dec 15, 2010, not Jan 15.

It all makes sense to me now. I was just confused

Has anyone received info from the company regarding reservations? I sent an email to the person listed on the site and I have not heard anything!!

I did, which I mentioned above. According the the gentleman who sent the email the company is trying to see "what options we can give our current guests but that information will most likely be available around October 1st". So you can either wait until Oct. 1st (or shortly thereafter) to see what HI will do or you can cancel your existing ressie (if it is for a date prior to 01/15/10), get your deposit back and then make other arrangements.
