Has anyone ever stayed at this location? Kids Room?
We have booked this hotel in October for 8 nights, but I am having second thoughts. I have the ability to change the hotel (with an additional charge), but I was hoping my fellow disney peeps would come through and tell me how this location really is. One thing, we don't mind riding ART at all, so I was well aware of it's location before I booked. Thanks in advance for the feedback!

People rarely stay there. It's often a high rate for a poor location.

With 8 day and October I wouldn't be terribly worried about the time ART will take. With less that long hours you should have time to get there and back and still sleep. 8 days of riding that shuttle may get old, but you will be an ART Pro after 4 days.

I haven't heard of nor really looked to find out if freeway noise is a problem.

about 3 years ago I stayed there for one night...none of the rooms were smoking rooms but it was obvious when I walked in the room someone had been smoking...I had to immediately call and have them change me to another room...I didnt like the location at ALL..its like down the street on manchester away from everything...I was glad it was only one night...but if the location doesnt bother you then you should be fine...just out of curiosity, why are you having second thoughts?

There are 2 Holiday Inns in Anaheim which one were you thinking of?

There are 3. The one named above is the one on Manchester. The Holiday Inn Express Anaheim Maingate is near the corner of Harbor and Katella a little to the east. The Holiday Inn and Suites Anahiem is northwest of the M&F garage.

Second thoughts stemmed from a few comments I recently read about it not being in a safe location. I didn't feel like it was that far away at the time I booked it. I booked through Getawaytoday and received a heck of a deal for 8 nights in the kids room (with short days when we are visiting, the kids room has an xbox included) and 5 day hopper passes, free breakfast and ART transfers. I just hope it all isn't too good to be true.

The good news is we will only have to use ART 5 days, plus we do have our car if it's not working out for us. It is a poor location, but I was banking on the price and now I'm not so sure it was a great idea. :confused3

My husband is a Platinum Priority Member so we made a reservation the night before my VGC stay on August 18th@ the HI on South Walnut(think it's by the M&F garage) So I cannot speak as of yet on everything there but I've been checking reviews from tripadvisor.com. It seems to be okay for the most part but it's only 1 night & we have are own transportation. We plan to arrive around 8pm (check in) then go to DL for a few hours. In the early morning check out from HI then check in @ VGC for Early Morning Enrty for CA! Being this close & making it on time without a drive (not that we live that far) is our entire reason for Holiday Inn! Sounds silly but if it gives more time for my kids to really enjoy themselves than so be it!! So a few hours in the park the 1st night, all day for day 2 and 1/2 a day for the 3rd = our mini staycation! We shall be doing more of these kind of trips to make good use of our annual pass + DVC!! I will have a report on HI in a few weeks if anyone might still be interested by then. If it may be too late then definitely check out tripadvisor if anyone from here has not stayed @ the various near by Holiday Inn.

OH My Gosh!! My 15 yr old son would almost never leave the room if he had access to that! Sounds like a good deal! I'm not sure of the safety issue but please check other reviews like tripadvisor when in doubt.
I feel that if 80% sounds good & 20% not good then GOOD usually wins my vote or vice versus. Although your trip will be however you make it to be so keep positive & hopefully everything will be fine!

You might look for other deals. The thing is many hotels have breakfast, and ART isn't that pricey. The xbox may seem nice but really are you going on vacation to play video games?

It's not like you will be wandering around the street by the HI, but if you stay elsewhere you might enjoy more nightime activity outside a hotel.

We stayed there once in Nov about 4 years ago and HATED it. I know everyone's experience is different, but all I know is mine.

The room was stinky, the hotel was noisy, and the location was terrible. When looking at the map before booking, I had made the mistake of thinking it was walking distance... it's not. We tried this the first day and the kids were tired before we even got into DL. You can't walk straight to the DL parking lots because of a wall that is not shown on the map. We figured that we wasted more than an hour a day just going back and forth to the park. If you want to go take a short nap in the middle of the day, forget it. One day my daughter had spilled something on her pants. It was itching and she was crying over it. We decide to just buy her new clothes in the park insted of trying to get back to the hotel room.

When we got home my husband and I figured up all that we spent and came to the conclusion that with the price of room, transportation and little extras (water, snacks and clothes) that we could not go back to our room for, that it would have been cheaper to stay at the PPH and we would have had more time in the park.

If you must save that few $, then you should pick one of the hotels at the main gate. I can't help you with that as my only experiences with off site hotels are Holiday Inn and Hilton and I wont recomend either to anyone. We will only stay at PPH or GCH depending on our budget.

Opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one :). Here's mine:

We stayed at this hotel in April. Here is my tripadvisor review:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUser...n_Anaheim_Resort_Area-Anaheim_California.html

My thought after reading other posts:

A. I thought the area was fine, there were no hoodlums or criminals running around. My car was safe or maybe they didn't care what my minivan had in it.
B. The freeway is directly in front of the hotel. we had a room on the side of the hotel, I could not hear it at all.
C. The ART ride was comparable to all the other ART rides I have taken from other routes/areas, and there have been MANY. If you are the first pick up from the hotel it will take forever to get back to the hotel that night, if you are the last pickup from the hotel you will get to your hotel pretty quickly at night.
This hotel is the second/third pickup in the morning, so at night we got to the hotel pretty quickly. Also, in the morning the ART driver just drove by all the other stops when people were not waiting.
D. I smelled no smoke at all.
E. We had a regular room with two double beds, not a kids room. But I believe the kids rooms are just a bed with bunk beds next to the bed, not a suite.

Lastly, while I think this hotel was just fine for my family and me, we did only stay 3 nights. If I were you and I was going for 8 days, I would pick a hotel with free breakfast because getting everyone to the park and finding a place to eat is all great the first few days, but it would be much nicer to send my husband to get them breakfast in the hotel while we all continue to get ready...

i never felt a safety issue at all..its just there is nothing there...no scenery nothing...just another hotel next to it...and the fwy across...and coming from Harbor where theres lots of scenery it just felt dead to me...and I agree, there are so many places that are way nicer than HI that would probably be cheaper or the same...not trying to pry but if you can give us an idea of what you are paying per night maybe we can help you find some other alternatives just to think on???

I agree about not feeling a safety issue. That was fine. We just had a bad room experience and disliked the location.

Or is there some fence/tram policy that would prevent us from doing that?

We LOVE the Holiday Inn & Suites.

It's a 20 minute walk, we hardly ever take the tram ... sometimes as a novelty, but not because we don't like to walk. It's nice to walk to DTD, too. It's VERY doable with 6&7 year olds. You could always offer piggyback rides too, if they get tired.

I love that kids eat free here, the food is good, and with four kids, it saves us money.

We're staying in October. I got hotwire rate of 60.00 per night. I used betterbidding.com to try and make sure that is the hotel I was getting. No guarantee but, I was pretty sure. This will be our 4th time staying.

I hope you like it.

Someone who has asked of the Holiday Inn I WILL be staying at soon & has been answered in return. Hope this is of some help to you dadzgirl70.

Meredith, That is a different Holiday Inn.

I know. :)

I'm Meredith. Someone else copied and pasted my response to another thread.

But I must admit, I do feel kind of special someone copied and pasted my response. :goodvibes:

I am specifically speaking about Holiday Inn & Suites on Walnut, which is adjacent to the Disney parking structure. Hope this helps with any confusion.

That was me (hjgaus) or AKA Edlyn Gaus who copied/paste your post so that dadzgirl70 would get a review of where I SAID THAT I would be staying at SOON (Holiday Inn on Walnut as I said in my previous post) since obviously I have not. I do understand it is not where said poster has chosen to stay but so that they have something to compare to.
