Downtown Disney Resort -
Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort

Does this seem high? Plus can anyone give me info about this hotel?

That is the Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza. It's just down the street from Downtown Disney. It is on Disney Property, not owned or operated by Disney. I've stayed there a couple of times when it used to be Courtyard at Mariott. It's an older hotel, but I believe Holiday Inn is upgrading it. They have their own bus service which is shared with the other hotels in the area. It's fairly efficient. The best thing about it is the location within walking distance to downtown disney! I would definately stay there again, but wouldn't pay a lot.

We are going Nov. 26 to Dec. 9 2005. Yes I did get a quote for one of the value resorts here's the quote :
Disney's All Star Resorts (Sports, Movies, Music)
Pop Century
2 Rooms

Standard view: $7783.52

Downtown Disney Resort -
Hotel Royal Plaza
2 Rooms

Standard view: $7983.52

For $700.00-$800.00 dollars more doesnt seem worth it. :confused3 If this is truely going to be a disney resort and I get the perks with it. Has anyone used MouseEarVacations.com before?

What perks? Unless things have changed, you cannot participate in EMH at the Holiday Inn because technically it's not onsite. The only DTD hotels that participate in EMH is the Hilton becasue they pay Disney to participate.

If it matters, I read on another thread that this hotel is closed right now because of hurricane damage, and there is a possibility that it might not open back up.

I am fairly sure that before the Holiday Inn closed it did not do EMH, plus you can't do the night extra hours. I drove by it a few weekends ago and they were working on it, so I bet it opens.

However, I am not sure this is a great deal.

2 rooms at $105 with Entertainment rate for 13 nights approximately $3000
Airfare for 7 ($240 each on Orbitz) $1680
MYW tickets $1530
Estimated $6200 w/out a rental car so… if you can get the car for less then a grand which I would think you could do….

Also, what are you doing the other days when your 5 day pass is not valid. Have you considered the longer MYW tickets. According to allearsnet.com the 10 day with park hopper is only about $15 more then the 5 day. Sounds like a deal to me!

I think you might can get the hotel cheaper. None of the hotels have "deals" yet, but there usually are deals and codes for this time of the year. Mouseears is quoting you rack rates. Will they adjust?

I use Dreams for my Disney hotels and do everything else myself. I have always found it a better deal then a "package" plus you have more control. Packages often come with take it or leave it flight times for example. Dreams will also do your dining reservations so you aren't losing that.

Straitlover, That's what I am asking . I didnt think it was a disney hotel neither. But when you go to the website it says that it's An Official Walt Disney World Hotel. Here's the website again http://www.hiorlando.com/index.html. So being a disney hotel doesnt give any extra perks that being at one of the value resorts would give.

CarolA, what is dreams? We are planning going to Universal a couple of days, Sea World, possibly Busch Gardens as well as Disney.

Couple questions;

What is the breakdown of the expenses?? Mostly, how much is the hotel?? On hotelkingdom.com your dates come up at $135 for each room. So two rooms at 13 days would be $3510. I'm guessing you are doing better than that??

Why do you need the rental car??

But if you do have a rental car, couldn't you stay off-site and save a lot of money?? Cypress Pointe Grandvillas has a three bedroom for your dates (13 nights) for $1810. This is a really nice place......and you would have 3 bedrooms, 3 tv's(the one in the living room is 46"), 2 or 3 bathrooms and a kitchen.

edited to add: CPGV is in the DD area, so you wouldn't be far from the Holiday. It's 5 minutes max to DD from CPGV.

Dreams is the board sponsor. Click on the word resorts at the top of the page to get to thier site.

The Holiday Inn is an offical "Disney hotel" but it is an affliation agreement. The DTD hotels pay Disney for the services they buy which include EMH. So far only Hilton is paying for that. With the Disney owned hotels like the All Stars you get all the services/perks.

Have you considered splitting your visit? Any hotel at Disney is going to cost a little more. Maybe half at a DIsney hotel and half up near Universal.

Another option you might want to explore is purchasing at least 1 childs annual pass. You'll get the AP rates for your on site resort. The value resorts like AllStars or Pop Century have rates as low as 49.00-79.00 for AP holders. That would be a savings of 800.00 of more off your quote of 105.00. With some more planning here you'll wind up saving much more $$$...Mark
