Holiday ideas?

no Sun City is nowhere near cape town, you fly to joburg and its a 5 hour road transfer or 1 hours flight from there, its a man made city in the middle of pilanesberg game reserve, think wealthier butlins! its very safe and a fake (its exactly what you'd expect if Disney built a resort based around a lost city) but theres loads for kids to do and very cheap to eat.
basically its a safer alternative to private safari lodges

sounds interesting I noticed Virgin sell it however very expensive. How long do people go for?

a week is plenty, bear in mind joburg flights are overnight in each direction so if you go for 5 nights you are technically getting a 7 night holiday. If you go then stay in either the Cabanas (the self catering part) or the palace, the other two you can use all the facilities in but they don't really offer you anything more for your money. The Palace is beautiful though, it puts AKL in the shade! and the restaurant there is surprisingly cheap

My mum has now booked her holiday - 2 weeks in Kenya(beach) with two days safari.

How lovely, whereabouts is she staying?

make sure she packs some warm clothes for safari although she'll just want usual shorts and t's for the beach.
other essentials - loo roll, wet wipes, a plug, long socks, mozzie repellent, sweets & spare batteries

I did that about 13 years ago and had a fab time.

I travelled on my own so didn't sleep much on a night as i kept imaging creepy crawlies in the bed. I waited and slept by the pool during the day!
