Saw this and while the food, wine and cigars don't interest us, we would like to see the tree lighting. Does anyone know if that part is free to hotel guests or if you have to pay the $45 per person to be there for the ceremony? Or is it even worth trying to make time for unless we happen to already be back at our resort?

On Friday, November 29, experience the exceptional Holiday Harbor Nights at Portofino Bay Hotel, a wine tasting and jazz event designed to capture the ambiance of the Mediterranean. Enjoy select wines and sparkling wines, gourmet food, complimentary hand-rolled cigars, and live music by The I-4 Band. Plus, don’t miss the grand illumination of Portofino’s Christmas tree under the twinkling lights of the majestic Harbor Piazza.

It kind of sounds like you'll have to pay for the event which includes the tree lighting. You can call the hotel and ask them but that's how it sounds to me.

we have been there a few times when this was going on. you have to pay for the food/wine/cigar part. they have booths set up around the water and you get a wrist band for the booths (that is how they did it for past ones)

you can hear the music and see the tree lighting- we had the ground floor PB suite one time and sat outside and watched.

We're staying CL at Portofino and would love to see the tree. I'm assuming that it will be up and decorated when we arrive (that Tuesday) but that the lights will not be "turned on" until Friday night. Would love to do photos with it lit, may just wait till their little gala is finished and the cigar smoke has cleared ;)
