O once there was a wicked, wicked man, and Haman was his name, sir
He would have murdered all the Jews, though they were not to blame, sir.
Chorus
Oh, today we'll merry merry be,
And nosh some hamentaschen.

And Esther was the lovely queen, of King Achashverosh
When Haman said he'd kill us all, Oh my how he did scare us.

[Chorus]

But Mordechai her cousin bold, said: "What a dreadful chutzpa!
If guns were but invented now, this Haman I would shoot, sir."

[Chorus]

The guest of honor he shall be, this clever Mr. Smarty,
And high above us he shall swing, at a little hanging party.

[Chorus]

Of all his cruel and unkind ways, this little joke did cure him,
And don't forget we owe him thanks, for this jolly feast of Purim.

[Chorus]

Did you have agood holiday BR

Out temple did a 45 minute "Lower East Side Story", followed by the whole magilla (I never spell that right!). Including our Rabbi dressed as Magilla Gorilla !!

Then we read several apssages backwards, the cantor sang to the tune of "Old MacDonald" and other traditional Jewish songs. The Assistant Rabbi dressed as Superman (or Super Rabbi) and ven made a feable attempt at flying.

You know, your typical Purim -one of my favorite (and certainly most fun) Holidays for the goy married to the princess!

my kids did the carnival but didn't stay for the megillah. our Rabbi always dresses like a cartoon character. I wasn't there, so I don't know what he wore this year.

Hag Sameach to everyone. Here's my virtual Shalach Manot.

Where on LI are you located, Briar Rose? I grew up in North Woodmere and belonged the the Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst.

I went to a wedding at the Sephardi Temple about 15 years ago. it was lovely.

I live in Suffolk County, in the the Huntington area.

When holidays coincide instead of the generic "have a good holiday", I always say to Jews I know "have a nagila" (i got it from that famous Jewish song). Is that appropriate?

"hava nagila" translates as "come let us go into the valley" steve. the Hebrew for "happy holiday" is "chag sameach". in Yiddish you'd say "gut yontif.
