I am trying to decide what to get for my coworkers for the holidays. There are 11 of them and we work very closely, long hours, all women. Trying to start early to look for sales and coupons. Here are my ideas so far:

Holiday mugs filled with candy & hot chocolate etc

or

maybe just get a "group" gift of a new coffee maker for everyone? We really need one, and I am going to see if I can find a Keurig on sale

or

Bath and Body Works stuff, but unsure how to pick scents for others. I figure they can trade if they want.

My husband thinks I should get the coffee maker and some coffee for "everyone" and thinks the other stuff is just junk no one wants.

What do you think?
Any other ideas?

I'm not being snarky at all but is it necessary to buy gifts for your co-workers?

If it is, I'd go with a coffee pot, too.

No gifts are ever "necessary" but I spend 60+ hours a week with these people and we are like family. I am grateful I work with such a great group!

I like the Keurig idea... you can get apple cider, tea and hot cocoa for those who don't drink coffee too. :)

Okie dokie, then I agree with your DH & everyone else. The Keurig will make an excellent gift that everyone can enjoy.

Bless you for remembering how much time you spend with your co-workers and trying to make them happy! If they all drink coffee, hot chocolate or tea - I would go with the Keurig. There are many types of little cups that can go in the machine so it's not just limited to coffee drinkers. I know I would be happy if someone in my workplace bought one when I worked in an office.

I agree with your husband.

I'm a teacher so I cringe when I hear "coffee mug" & "gift" in the same sentence. :rotfl:

The Keurig will please everyone, that is a great idea.

I work with a great group of ladies that are like family & was lucky enough to find Vera Bradley calculators at the outlet - usually $19 a piece - for $5.80 each! We're all Vera Bradley fanatics so this was an awesome find for me!

What a catered lunch?
cookie platter

I wouldn't do the coffee what if you have people that don't drink coffee

:rotfl2: :worship:

I totally agree! A mug with candy is the default "OMG I need a gift' gift I've found.

I'm not giving to all my coworkers this year (too many) but for the one I work with the days I'm there & office staff (I teach at a preschool) I'll probably grab something out of my stash. I have some ornaments & some holiday bookmarks I picked up for 90% off at Mardel last year.

I think your hubby is right on with the group coffee maker and some individual mugs and coffee. Sounds like a great gift!

I also love the group gift idea. I am the supervisor and feel like I owe everything to my colleagues b/c they make my job so easy, and I just love them! None of us drink coffee though, but I'm going to try to think of something else that could be a group gift. Awesome idea!

The Keurig sounds great!!!

Here's what I got for ALL the teachers this year: http://www.verabradley.com/product/...defaultColor/Suzani/p/154832.uts?fromSearch=1 Two of the patterns were on sale for $11 on Labor Day, so I bought 8 of them. (3rd grade teacher, 2 aides, speech teacher, reading teacher, 3 religion teachers.)

Here's a cheaper version of the same idea: http://www.verabradley.com/product/...tColor/Mocha+Rouge/p/1001467.uts?fromSearch=1

Another gift I've given in the past is a fleece throw... I figure EVERYONE (at least up her in NY) likes a warm blanket on the couch on a cold winter's night.

But I love the idea of the Keurig if you can find it at the right price!

And the great thing about the Keurig is that, next year, you already have a gift idea - boxes of pods! You'll have figured out everyone's favorites by then.

The coffee maker will work, even if they don't do coffee, it makes a good cup of hot chocolate to. I know one year I gave everyone my favorite Chinese food lunch menu (as well as a couple of other low cost dishes they served) (minus prices) and had everyone pick something. The lunch went over real well and the price was about $6 each.

I like the coffee maker idea, but who will stock it throughout the year when the original batch runs out? Aren't the cups kind of expensive?

If you decide to go a different direction here are some ideas.

Double Walled tumblers with a plastic straw. If you have a Cricut (or know someone with one) you can cut their names out of vinyl and personalize them. Tervis makes really nice ones but they are spendy. You can get knockoffs for under $5.00.

Decorate a giant Hershey Bar with a fun poem about "Not so homemade fudge". This is the "punch line".

A day or two ago,
I thought I’d make a treat
For all our special friends -
A Christmas gift to eat!
My intentions were with love
But schedules would not budge,
So here’s this year’s edition of my
not so homemade fudge!

Would your co-workers be interested in a gift exchange? When I worked we did an exchange for our department and the limit was $1.00/gift. It was fun to see what people came up with. I got lottery tickets from one person and won $10.00!

For the music, PE, etc. teachers last year I made a really cute gift card holder and got them a $5.00 gift card for Sheetz (which has really inexpensive yet fun hot chocolate and coffee).

Sounds like you have a wonderful group to work with. Doesn't that make things so nice? :goodvibes

What about a breakfast or lunch spread?

A few years ago ,y office went to a Secret Santa instead of individual gifts. We have a blast with it. You need to gift your person without anyone knowing and then at the Holiday Party we have a contest to see who can guess who everyone else had. Winner gets a prize (we all chip in a few dollars for a cash prize). We have a $25 limit on the gift.
