For the last 5 years I have made these trains. I make about 200 of them and give them to the kids classes, neighborhood kids, neices and nephews, peoples kids at work, etc. I like making and giving them out, and I've had a couple people place "orders" already this year. So I am going to do them, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for them.

Basically i'm bored with them. I've been sitting here sketching out other things like planes and boats, but I just can't make anything else work. They need to be made out of only candy and it has to be all wrapped candy.

Anyway here's a picture, and any help would be appreciated.

ETA: I know it's early, but i'll need to start getting candy and making them soon in order to have them all made.

How cute! What a sweet idea for classroom parties to make a craft!

I'm going to make some for stocking stuffers, gift decorations, etc!

Thanks for sharing!

Those are too cute!! I am sorry I have no ideas for you but can I ask how do you stick them all together and how do you make the ribbon stick?

Not sure about the trains, but I have a halloween one for you. My mom used to make them when I was younger. She took a sucker (like a blow-pop or tootsie pop) and would put a kleenex on top then tie a rupperband around the "neck". Then draw eyes on them. When they were done they looked like ghosts.

And what are they wrapped with--looks like clear cellophane?

No, they're just candy glued together with a hot glue gun. The cellophane you see is the mints as wheels. I didn't unwrap anything so the kids could eat it if they wanted.
You can see the glue in these, these pictures were taken a couple years ago...i've gotten better at it;) .

the ribbon is easy. I start with taking the lifesavers and hot glueing both ends to eachother and the lifesavers, did that make sense?

Yeah it was like 15 years ago the last time she made one. :rotfl:

Be sure to post the airplane once you make it!!

I haven't tried it but I saw somewhere that someone made a plane using a roll of lifesavers at the body of the plane, individual sticks of gum as wings (one on top and one below the lifesavers)(this would be more along the lines of the old-fashioned planes) I don't remember what else there was but maybe you could build off of that base somehow.
