I booked my holiday for 17th October 2010 last May and I have just found out that I am pregnant with baby due on 15th September 2010...
I've decided that I'm going to have to change dates but not sure how Virgin Holidays will handle this? I've decided to opt for October 2011 when little one will be 13 months and my daughter will be 11.
Does anyone have any experience of moving holiday dates with Virgin? Just wondering how helpful/unhelpful they are going to be...? I also have to add an infant to the booking.
Realistically I also might have to downgrade my hotel from AKL to CSR to save some £££ because I will have to go on maternity leave so I'm hoping that Virgin are going to be very understanding :confused3 I really dont want to lose my deposit or my £900 Tesco vouchers that I used to pay towards my holiday.
Theres also the issue of free DDP, I was eligible for Oct 2010 and the same offer is on for Oct 2011 so I was hoping to get that as well....
All this before I even consider what it is like to take a 13 month old baby to Florida, I'll be asking lots of questions about that later on I'm sure....
Just quite eager to get it all straight in my head before I phone Virgin, if anyone has any experience of this sort of situation I would love some help and advice!
Thanks :goodvibes

Congratulations to you

This happened to me a few years ago and virgin charged us an amendment fee of £25 per person and also you have to pay the new price of the holiday.

Congratulations! I can't see why you wouldn't take a 13 month old to Florida - I'd say go for it!:thumbsup2

Congratulations!

I can't help you with the changing of your booking info but I can with taking an infant to WDW!

DS was 11 months on his first trip. He loved it, we loved seeing him taking everything in and enjoying the characters - he got hold of Flick from Bugs Life at Animal kingdom and started chewing his hand and wouldn't let him go :rotfl: memories like that really make it worth it!

The flight was ok with him too. We just ensured that we took enough milk powder for him and the airline provided him with jarred food. They were really helpful to us too with warming the milk etc.

DS just turned 3 in January and celebrated his 3rd birthday at Chef Mickeys. He is now a seasoned WDWer! :goodvibes

I did this with Virgin a few months ago! You pay a £35 per person amendment fee, plus the cost of the holiday on that date. You also have to pay a new deposit, and then they credit the old deposit off your new balance (no idea why they had to make that part so hard! It also took a few weeks to get the credit, I had to keep chasing . . .)

Congratulations!!!

No idea on Virgin however we took DD at 9mths and 15 mths!

Baby will love it and it is easier before they start walking - DD was walking at 11 mths so by 15 mths wanted to be out of the stroller and walking some of the time. :goodvibes

Disney is so well set up as you can take them on all rides without a height restriction and if you baby is walking there some small play areas that they can let of steam at (although with the Fantasyland expansion I am not sure if they are still having any in MK as Pooh's closed this weekend and the other one was in Toontown)

i think id ratehr take a one month old than a 13 month old, baby will slepp well on the plane!, weve taken ours away at that age, i think it just depends on the family, do you have holiday insurance that covers you for any problems, ie c section or baby being early , if everything was going ok, i think id be tempted to still go.

i think the issue with moving it will be the fact some of it was paid for with tesco vouchers........they may not allow changes outside the same season, so you may be able to move it 6 months but not 12.

Thanks everyone for your replies :goodvibes
I think that I would be tempted to still go this October but couldn't really afford to as I will be on maternity leave and my pay will be low. The reason I said October 2011 is because baby wont need sterilised bottles by then so I thought it would be easier, if Virgin wont let us then I will have to look at the dates that they limit us to.
I'm quite looking forward to taking a baby with us now, it just feels a bit weird because all my planning has been around myself and my 10 year old daughter for the last year! Things now are going to be at a slower pace which is better for my Mum who will be celebrating her 65th birthday while we are there.
Thanks again, I might give Virgin a call next week and see what they say :worship:

Congratulations to you!

I can understand why you want to wait a year for £££ purposes, but felt I had to post because your situation is v similar to mine a couple of years ago. We booked to take DD who would be 8 when flew, then in the meantime I fell pregnant - baby was due 16th Sept, born the 14th (with my other DD's birthday 15th September!) - but we decided to carry on regardless, and flew out on the 22nd October with a 5-6 week old. It was fine!

Good luck with Virgin, hope you get it all sorted soon :goodvibes

I don't have advice for you about changing dates, etc. But I really wanted to say:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!:cheer2:

Slighty different situation but I thought I'd post to give a different option.

When I fell pregnant with my DD we had a cruise booked and because I would have been unable to travel we were able to claim on our travel insurance for our deposit. We could have claimed for excersions etc that we had also paid but the cruise line refunded these themsleves due to the circumstances. All I needed was proof that I wasn't pregnant when booking the holiday.

Congratulations :cheer2:

Falling pregnant at an inconvienient time as far as our Florida holiday goes has been something that I have worried about...haven't let DP near me for months! :lmao:

Sorry can't be much help as far as your situation goes as when it happened to me a few years back we had booked flights only (Malaysia and Australia) and our holiday insurance didn't cover me because our trip was "within 8 weeks of EDD" so we just had to cancel the flights and loose all the money apart from the taxes :sad1: I was pretty annoyed because had I got pg the following month or the previous month my EDD would have been a few weeks later/earlier and the holiday insurance would have covered me :headache:

So you can see why I have been a bit overly cautious about not getting pg! :rotfl:

Thinking about it, I think I would rather take a 6 week old baby than a 13 month old...at least with the 6 weeker you don't have to worry about food and drink for them as it's right there on tap for them whenever they want it and I don't think huge breasts count towards your luggage allowance do they! :rotfl2:

Luv Suzy

congrats i was 25 weeks pregnant last sept when we went and now our twin girls are here we cant wait to go with them this sept

once again congrats and whatever you choose it will be great

DS was 11 months on his first trip. He loved it, we loved seeing him taking everything in and enjoying the characters - he got hold of Flick from Bugs Life at Animal kingdom and started chewing his hand and wouldn't let him go :rotfl: memories like that really make it worth it!
:rotfl: Haha I love this!!

Congratulations Mollies_mum!!!!!! :cool1:

Thanks so much, I was so disappointed that we couldn't go this October , mainly for DD who is 10, but now we are both so excited at taking our new baby we have started our planning again!
Thanks again for all your lovely and helpful comments :goodvibes

Same happened to me we had holiday booked for Oct 2006 when I found out I was pregnant & we changed it to early July again just amendment fee £25 & cost of new holiday, we kept the same resort so just the date changed.
And Ds went to WDW when he was 6mths,12mths,2yrs 2.5yrs & 3 yrs every time was different but all my nightmares with flights etc never happened so far he has always loved it.
