Holding and transfering points

We have a week at BWV already booked in October. Just recently my parents with there account had to put 44 points in hlding that will expire 11/30/02. They offered the 44 points for us to use on the trip coming up. Is it possible and if yes which is the best way to go about this. This Tuesday we will be 60 days to our arrival date. Thanks for any help.

I'd call first thing on Tuesday (I'm assuming your have your parent's membership number and they're OK with you doing the work to use the points, LOL) and see where (and for what size room) there is availability. You can make your decision based on what MS says it looks like for the days before and after your current reservation.

Don't forget about the waitlist - might be worth your while to get on that as well, especially for the resort and same type of room as you already have. Some posters also think it is worth a call to MS every so often to "check" on the waitlist. Apparently, sometimes they "catch a coincidence" and get what they were waiting for on the waitlist. If your parent's use year is more than 60 days later than your trip, you could also use the points to stay at one of the non-DVC WDW resorts. (Can't make a ressie for a non-DVC resort less than 60 days before the end of your use year). How about a night at the AKL or one of the monorail resorts?

Hopefully you can schedule some days with the holding points that will work. You could then bank part of your own points as long as it's more than 30 days out. Remember to link them to your current reservations so you won't have a chance of moving. If you need more than the 44, see if you're parents will let you either transfer points to them or let you pay them for the extra in some way. Good luck.
