Okay I have a question about what would happen to 100 pts. of incentive points at SSR only...if you had to cancel your trip a week out. I know that regular points go into holding but what about the incentive points?? Are they lost forever?? Thanks

I was told that developer points work the same as regular points..would go into "holding" status like regular points....

Good Luck!:goodvibes

Thanks I am not planning on cancelling but I needed to know just in case. You never know what life will throw at you. :goodvibes

Know that travel insurance only reimburses at $5 per point, but our travel window is very inflexible...If we had to cancel for a "covered reason" within the 30 days, instead of scrambling around trying to rent the points by the end of the use yr or rebook the trip(in our case probably unlikely), I will probably purchase the nominal cost of travel insurance..

If my trip was cancelled due to "covered reason" at least $5 per point would cover my dues for yr...That may be a silly way to look at it, but at least your getting something back....

According to the AIG Travel Guard Brochure, on 200 points, insurance for everyone in party is $51.50..A small nominal cost to get $1000 reimbursed if something happens to cancel the trip within the 30 day window...

Something to consider....

But, would the Travel Guard insurance pay $5 per point if they go into holding, as you haven't actually "lost" the points? I doubt it, as there is still the "possibility" you could get use from those points.

When I asked Travel Guard the question, they told me if you cancel for a "covered reason" you have the option of filing a claim for reimbursement of points, $5 per point OR REBOOKING VACATION..

Anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks.:goodvibes

Strange, as Travel Guard should NOT have access to your MS account to see if you do rebook those points in the future.
