Holding account waived?

I gifted DVC for June 14-20th trip for a friend. I have a June UY.
So now my friend isn’t sure they want to go but doesn’t want to cancel either. She thought she saw where they could decide to cancel even within 24 hours and I would incur no penalty.

Is the holding account thing waived currently?

It is currently being waived. However, that could change at any minute,

The 24 hour notice is for cash reservations, and not DVC, I think once they announce opening of resorts, that exception will go away,

I would let your friend know that the decision should be made 31 days ahead, because if you pass that, and DVC goes back to regular rules, you will be stuck,

Thanks for the information. That’s my feeling on it. But my friend isn’t as concerned about it as I am.
It truly is hard to explain the DVC rules and stipulations to others!

Yes, that is true. I think we will hear more this weekend or early next week about resort openings.

As to cancellation, what is currently being done by DVC, if the member does not cancel first, is to automatically cancel reservations about a week before arrival date , so no one actually has until the day before expected arrival to cancel. That process will likely end when an opening date is determined but may still be in effect in June.
