Holding Account and November 2009

We currently have a reservation for next month and I am interested in canceling one night. The problem is, we are under the 30 day mark and the 40 points we will cancel will be put into our holding account. I realize that we cannot book until 60 days before our new arrival date on another reservation (which I think is stupid, but anyways...)

I would like to make a reservation for 3 nights in November (the 22nd-25th, actually.) I realize that this is the few days leading up until Thanksgiving, but what does everyone think the availability would be of those dates if I couldn't book until around September 23rd?

Just trying to make sure it would be worth it to cancel and have the points put in holding and still have a good possibility to get another reservation for the November dates.

Two months out from Thanksgiving would not be good. Even at SSR or OKW. Not impossible, just not likely.

I agree with Deb - getting those days at any of the onsite DVC resorts at the 60 day mark will be a long shot.

Well, I figured I would call and speak with a supervisor. I called and explained my situation and since I have never had points in holding before, they allowed me to cancel and book the new reservation now instead of putting points in holding and having to deal with the 60 day issue.
