You're allowed to do this at Universal hotels?!
Do the people at Disney know this? Surely the gates of Hell open up and swallow you if you attempt this. :furious:

Seriously -- its allowed? As you can tell we have never stayed on site at Universal.
We are staying one night at RPR to get FOTL access for two days and the kids are DYING to go to Hard Rocks pool.

YES! STay at one and play at all three.

It's not only allowed; it's encouraged! :thumbsup2 Have fun!

We stayed at Portofino and pool hopped to Hard Rock -- had to show our room key to get towels and the Portofino key wasn't even mentioned. This summer we plan to stay at Hard Rock and pool hop one afternoon over to Portofino . . . it's definitely allowed.

While there are only 3 resorts, they can allow it. Just an FYI, before the Disney Resorts grew to what they are today, they allowed it as well. I want to say they allowed it up until somewhere in the mid 90's???. If you are staying at any of the All Stars you can pool hop to any of the other All Star pools. You can also pool hop at PO-R to PO-FQ and that is it. So if you look at Universal with 3 pools that you can hop to, at Disney you can hop at the 3 All Stars plus (if staying at) PO-R to PO-FQ, so there are really more there to hop too.. ;)
I don't mean any harm by saying that but I did have to add it pirate: .
I do hear what you are saying though... and tend to agree with ya about it ;)

I bet the difference is that the pools at UO are more "comparable". If you allowed pool hopping at WDW you'd have a lot of people from the values hopping to monorail and Epcot resorts for a break midday -- both because of the locations and because of the slides. But you wouldn't have nearly as many people hopping the other direction. So the "popular" pools would end up over crowded.

On the other hand, it sounds like all the pools at UO are nice and conveniently located, so the pool hopping evens out a little.

Just a guess.

While the pools are all nice, the hopping doesn't quite equal it. It seems that most people doing the hopping are hopping to HRH's pool. I've read of a few who hopped to the others, but not very many at all. Personally, we don't think it's worth it. We've stayed at all the resorts, & have never hopped. While we didn't care for RPR's pool, we thought it was too much of a hassle for us to go to another.

That's what I was thinking. The pools at all three Universal hotels are amazing. The atmosphere at Portofino Bay is great, the tropical theming at the Royal Pacific is gorgeous, and the music played underwater in the Hard Rock pools is my FAVORITE! :thumbsup2

I have never pool hopped before, but this year I plan on taking a day and doing it. I have never seen the PBH pool and would like to check it out.

That's somewhat true, but there's no waterslide at RPR, but there is at the other two. We looked at HRH pool and thought it was OK, but liked the PB pool the best! May stay there next time.

This is a perfect example of what I was thinking. I think most people tend to choose the hotel that has the pool they prefer. :) That is, if a pool matters to you.

We actually prefer the PBH resort & pool also. Unfortunately, our DS(14) doesn't, & guess who won.

Is hard rock in walking distance from royal pacific. I have a reservation for one night at royal pacific (but might cancel if they change fotl policy by the time I go). How do you get from one hotel to another.

Yes, it's about a 15 minute walk. From the RPR to Margaritaville is 7 minutes at a normal pace. Then from Margaritaville to USF is about 3 minutes. From USF to the HRH is 5 minutes. Or you take the boat, but it will stop at City Walk, and then you'll have to board another. Or you take the hotel shuttle van which would drive you from one hotel to the other.

HRH - Nerf ball pool with slide at the end.
RPR - Volleyball net, 2 Basketball hoops, ship wreck with water guns.
PBH - going this year.

There is no best pool, each one has unique qualities that make them different.
It's like comparing Ice dragon to Fire dragon, both great.

The only reason I knew that you could poop hop is by reading these boards.
We were not told that this was available nor did many other people know in passing conversation. I don't think that many people actually do it between not knowing about it and actually going between the resorts. With 3 kids in tow it was not all that easy to do. We stayed at RPH and liked their pool but loved HRH's pool. We drove over since we had a rental car and glad we did, because 8 hrs later, we were all melting! ALL the pools are really nice! :thumbsup2

poop hop

What would be nice would be that for the night we are staying at RPR we use their pool, then when we check out the next morning we were hoping maybe to use HRH pool that afternoon since our FOTL access would still be available with our room key. Is this possible or if we check out in the morning are we then also "checking out" of the pool?

I don't think they will have any problem with that at all. Since you can use FOTL the entire day you check out, there would be no reason not to be able to use the pool for that last day. (I think Disney also allows you to use the pool of the resort you are staying in the entire day you check out; just no pool hopping.)

By the way, when I checked in at Portofino the person there actually mentioned being able to pool hop if we wanted.

Ok, so I obviously don't edit my posts! Glad you got a chuckle. By the way, my family doesn't like to poop hop. They are particular to their own (hotel) restroom.... :lmao:

 Last year we stayed at RPR and pool hopped to HRH. We pulled in and it was a valet service. I'm not sure if that is automatic, but at RPR we parked in the parking lot on our own. l'm not familiar with HRH, so maybe we just missed the parking lot or it was automatic valet seeing that we were there on spring break.

ANYWAY...we liked the pool, although it was very shallow. The deepest point was about 3 feet. But we did like the slide. Women be aware, please keep your ankles crossed as to not have an unpleasant "EXPERIENCE" upon impact of the water !!!!! :goodvibes  :goodvibes  :goodvibes

Just a note though, we were charged for the parking and I explained that were were pool hopping to the attendant and he seemed unclear about it. We went in to the front desk and they validated our parking since we pay parking each day at RPR. We still tipped the valet, but it was worth it to experience another hotel's pool.

If you go the HRH, try out the locker rooms. They have hair dryers, shampoos, conditioners, razors, etc. . They're REALLY cool.

BTW, we REALLY liked the RPR pool and that's why we're going back to it in June !!! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Go for it, lindalinda!

Personally I think I will be hopping to the RPR pool on our upcoming visit to the PBH. However, I will only be doing this so I can get my laundry done. RPR has a laundry room close to the pool and PBH has none. Ooops! I bet that's not allowed! Forget I said anything!
