Hold on cruise

I know at least in the past you could keep a hold on a cruise for up to 3 days. Does this basically charge 3 deposits to your credit card and some or all fall off when you decide to let them go, or is the hold free, causing some for the rapid increases in price? I know discussions in the past have blamed this, but this will be my first time in a long time of not booking on the ship and knowing what we want. It will be price dependent this go round...

A "hold" essentially "pauses" the reservation until the deposit is paid. Usually no credit card info is exchanged at this point, and you would need to call back to pay the deposit. If no payment is received within the 3 day limit, the hold drops and the reservation auto-cancels. I presume DCL is still allowing holds, at least from TAs, but I don't know for sure.

Yes, the three-day hold is honored. I held a cruise this morning.

As pp have stated, the 3 day hold is free, but I do believe that they contribute to the escalating prices, as I believe they are treated as if the cruise is booked.
