Hi, everyone! We are at Vero Beach, in a 2br lock-off 1218/1219. We are here for four nights before heading to VWL for eight nights. The resort is in great condition overall.

Check-in was painless, although our room was not ready until 3:45. Not a big deal, as we went to the Green Cabin Room and watched our beloved Patriots beat the Dolphins.

The housekeeping was not perfect at check-in, but the staff did a great job correcting the problems. The kitchen was not cleaned to standards, but it was taken care of.

We were told that the buildings will be closing one by one for plumbing/pipe work.

So far, we ate at Bobby’s and Ocean Grill. Bobby’s was good, but not great. I would recommend it, but it’s not on our ‘must do’ list. Ocean Grill remains to be outstanding, and is on our must do list.

I am happy to answer Q’s.

I will report from VWL

I'm not sure if the resort is full to capacity, but it does seem busy. There is some sort of seminar going on all week in the Sea Grape Room. Most of the attendees are staying here.
The pool is crowded, and I looked for the obvious chair saving. All chairs APPEARED to be saved by actual guests in the pool.

On a side note, I really wish they had an atendant in Anchor's Aweigh (work out room). There were many young kids playing on the machines, unsupervised by parents. This can damage machines, as well as be dangerous for the kids. Also, I can't use my machine because a kid is playing on it.

Just to add to the report- The entrance to the inn bulding is half blocked off, as there is some refurb going on.
They are also converting a second conference room to three additional inn rooms.
The ramp to the beach is still wasshed out, but I see materials there to repair it.

Thanx for the well wishes!

Almost forgot... At check-in I was told that the resort is down to three inn rooms that are smoking optional. She said ALL cottages are non-smoking, and they simply ask the guests to smoke on the balcony. Doug, the bartender in the GCR, said the resort was now non-smoking.
I don't know how accurate these statements are, but I think it shows the direction the resort is going.

I am not trying to start a debate on the smoking issue, but rather I am just passing along the info that I have learned.

Is Ocean Grill on the property? Also, do you know how long the beach access will be closed.

Maistre Gracey: Let us know how the transportation at the VWL is. Especially if the MK is open late some night. Looking forward to your report.

Hi, Kathy O. No, Ocean Grill is about about 10 minutes down the road.
The stair portion of the beach access is up and running, only the ramp portion is down.

Will do!

We will have to live vicariously through you!!

Is there much beach damage/erosion evident from Isabel?

How about Shutters? Have you been there yet?
I always find that the CM/Staff at Vero is a bit more easy going than in DVC resorts at WDW. The atmosphere is more laid back, but if you make a request they are right on it.

RE: The gym access, do you need a room key or can you simply open the door.(Not a place I have obviously frequented). Perhaps a locked door with room key access would be an economic and feasible way to keep the kiddies off the equipment.

Hi, nezy. The beach seems to be in good shape, although the ocean does seem to be on the rough side.
They were working on the walkway/ramp access earlier today.

I have not been to Shutters yet on this visit (have been there on previous visits), but we will be dinning at Sonya's Wednesday night.

There is a room key required for gym access, so I guess the kiddies had there key. Today was better though, as the gym was very quiet.

MaistreGracey-
Wow that was a prompt response!! Talk about immediate feedback. What are you doing hanging around these boards? -I hope you are at least on a laptop by the pool w/ a chilly one. Now get out there on the links(mini-golf)!
I am glad to hear the beach looks good. TS Nicholas is having his way w/ the ocean I guess.

Hope the weather is great. I was in Puerto Rico last week and it rained a bit-TS Mindy!(Gee do I sound like a weather girl? Call me Stormy Field).

Have fun and keep us posted.
