Just wondering if anybody has had this experience....

We made plans to stay at Hojos for our upcoming trip to DL. Checked their website for the entertainment rate and booked our trip around that. I called up THE HOTEL DIRECTLY and asked to make a reservation. When I asked for the "entertainment rate", the person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. :confused3 We went back and forth a few times, then I ended up asking to speak to somebody else. That person too had never heard of the "entertainment rate" and wanted to book my reservation at the full price.

Well, we had some time for the reservation, so I decided to just make the reservation and call back when another shift was working to have the rate adjusted.

I ended up calling back the next day. Called Anaheim directly and asked for the same thing. Again, another reservations agent had never heard of the entertainment rate! I then asked to speak to a manager. And again... you guessed it LOL..... he had never heard of it either!! :confused3 I was getting SO frustrated! I ended up sending him the link to the area on THEIR website that shows the special discount. Waiting on the phone with him as he opened his e-mail and read it. He looked at their website and then finally I got the discount. The manager AT THE ANAHEIM HOTEL had never even heard of the entertainment rate!

Long story short (or short story long... sorry. hehe).... I just can't believe how many reservations agents at the hotel (including a manager) had never heard of their own entertainment rate. Going by all of the posts here on the board, I thought this was something pretty popular and well-known.

Has anybody else had this trouble?

That's weird, I called a few days ago and the first person I talked to knew about it right away. :confused3

I called yesterday and didnt have any problems. Next time I would ask for in house reservations to be sure who you are talking to. I know people have had that happen but only when talking to general reservati:confused3ons.

It sounds like you were being transferred to the main reservations line. If you did not ask for IN HOUSE reservations, they probably transferred you to the main line everytime. Did you ask for in house?

Nope, I was talking to the people at the Anaheim hotel. I verified that several times because I was shocked they had no idea what I was talking about.

Well, good to know this wasn't common as it was a hassle to get the rate! LOL

You can get the entertainment rate online??

I didn't think you could do that or I definitely would have!!! :thumbsup2

I have never been able to get through reservations online with the entertainment rate. The code is SD50 and it will take it and show reduced rates (if ALL of your dates apply), but once I get to the final page it tells me "rate not available". That happens each time so I always call in house.

I don't think there was anyway you were talking to in house reservations if they didn't know about the rate. The gals working at in house are Lorealle, Jessica, Kimberly and Desi. I am pretty sure that's all of them.

~I called the direct #.

~Asked for "Anahiem In-House Reservations"

~then when they hadn't heard of it, I asked ALL OF THE PEOPLE I SPOKE TO if they were working at the Anaheim hotel itself and they said "yes".

I'm not sure what else I could have done to assure that I was talking to in house reservations. :confused3

Like I said... eventually I got the rate, but it was a hassle. It's reassuring to know that this wasn't the norm!! :thumbsup2 Yeah, I just found it quite odd that they didn't know what I was talking about.

I don't stay at hojos, but this makes me wonder if there are more than 1 anaheim hojos??

Yes, I agree -- there is nothing else you could have done. That is so strange. Glad you eventually got the rate. :goodvibes

Well, that would be a good reason :rotfl:. I stayed there a couple of years ago and now that I think about it I think I called and talked to someone there too. I don't recall any problems and I do get the Entertainment rate for some of my nights. I'm glad you finally got what you wanted. It's a nice hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

You can also email the hotel directly (stay @ hojoanaheim.com.....no spaces), or PM HojoAanaheim here at Disboards or through their Facebook page. Lorealle or Kimberly have always gotten back to me right away.

I always make the reservation online for whatever rate is listed, and then call them later to add the discounts. I had to shorten our upcoming reservation and just emailed them. Never had any issues at all. I don't know what was going on when the OP called, but something just doesn't sound right. :confused3

After reading the above posts, I just can't believe now that I was talking to the hotel directly. But I have no idea why they would have lied to me. :confused3 Also, not sure what else I could have asked/done to make sure I was.

Anyway... no worries. We got our reservation at a great price. I'm just glad this doesn't happen often.

Were you calling around the same time of day that you wrote this post, before 6am? If so, the people in Anaheim aren't in the office yet. Call during pacific time business hours, NOT at lunchtime.

I've been shunted over to the 800 people, and I had to nearly give the lady the third degree to get her to admit that she was NOT in the hotel, NOT actually sitting there at the hotel on Harbor blvd IN Anaheim. She lied until she couldn't lie. Why? Who knows.

The in house reservations group is a small group. I would state with 99.999999% certaintly that you weren't talking to them. Especially bc of the manager thing. From what I know there's the manager and there's Lorealle...and the manager and Lorealle both know about the entertainment rate.

Aren't I correct in thinking that Hojo also offers a 10% discount for DIS members? Can that be applied in addition to the entertainment rate?

They do offer a multitude of discounts - the ET and AP rates are the best - but I'm pretty sure you cannot use more than one for each date.

How do you know when the entertainment rate is available?

How do you know when the entertainment rate is available?

They update a list here: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

Although it's always more accurate and up to date if you call them and ask.

Back to the OP, it sounds like you may have called the wrong HoJo as there are more than one in the area. I have never had an instance where nobody knew about the Entertainment Rate even if it wasn't the girls from in house reservations.
