If I can get the Entertainment/Retro rate, I am considering staying at the HoJo (for the 1st time) on our next trip. When booking a room we would normally get a standard room with 2 Queen beds. However, it appears that the Std 2 Queen ($69) rooms at the HoJo are all in Building #1 facing the freeway (so that is probably not an option for us). For $10 less they have the standard 2 double bed rooms ($59) which are in the two-story building #'s 3 to 6.

Are there any rooms in building #'s 3 thorugh 6 that have any kind of view of Disneyland, or are the only rooms with a park view in building #1?

Or we could pay ($89 retro rate) and get the 2 Queen Premuim room with a park view. How good is the park view in these building 1 rooms?

Also, which buildings are noisy? I'm guessing any rooms facing the freeway in building 1 or 2, and any on the pool side of building 4.

Buildings 3-6 are two story buildings so a view of DL isn't likely, though obviously I have not been in all of them.
All of the rooms have balconies, this is your window. On one side of all the buildings the rooms actually face into a courtyard so that is what your view would be if you were on that side of one of those buildings. For buildings 3 and 4 the rooms on the other side face the pool and front desk building so that would be your view. For buildings 5+6 the rooms faceing out face towards bulding 2 so thats what your view would be from those rooms.

We have stayed at HoJos 5 times since Sept 2011. Here is my feedback:
Building #1- we booked a standard 2Q and were upgraded to a park facing premium 2Q. A huge tree blocked our view of the park. I would have hated to pay more $$ for that view.
We have stayed 3x in the kids suites in building #1- once before the freeway noise buffering was installed, and twice after. It did make a huge improvement. However, the last time we were on the 3rd floor closest to the freeway and that was really noisy. It seemed less noisy on the 2nd floor.

Our last trip (june 1) we stayed in the 2 double in building 4. Not a fan at all. We were on the ground floor b/c we had a stroller and lots of luggage, and there was a ton of people noise (outside our room on the walkways and outside our door). we had no view of DL.

I would recommend the Std 2 Queen ($69) rooms and ask for 2nd floor away from the freeway. I personally don't think it would be worth more $$ for a view room away from the freeway...just me though!

The only rooms with a firework view are the Premium rooms in building 1. If you don't mind taking a couple steps out of the buildings, there are many places from our property where you can watch the fireworks. The parking lot by building 4 and 6, Castaway Cove, and the parking lot near building 2 are great viewing areas.

We have recently added sound proof windows to our rooms that face the freeway, so they are very quiet now :thumbsup2 If you had any other requests, we'll be happy to add those in your reservation and we will accommodate them as best we can.

Hope this helps!

Keep in mind in bldgs 3-6 there are skylights on 2nd floor so it never really gets too dark in the room.

We've had that room also since the soundproofing and felt the same way.

I believe there are also skylights on the 7th floor of Building 1.

Our favorite room is the Deluxe 2 Queen, which is in building 2. Very quiet, nice view of the garden pool, and it's only $10 than the standard 2Q.

We have stayed in building 2 with pool view...it was great:goodvibes

We have also stayed in Building 1 with the Disney view room and while it was great we far preferred Building 2 facing the pool because it was away from the hurly burly::yes:: of reception, store etc.

The only thing we make sure is that we have the fridge and microwave so that we can save money by buying groceries for our stay and that we don't get a room with the skylight so that our DDprincess: (4 yrs old) can have naps in the afternoon...well us too :lmao:

We stay in the premium room with the Disney view room in building 1. We stay here because my kids will not stay in Disneyland for the fireworks show. We love sitting on the balcony and watching the fireworks. We always try and stay on the top floor (7th) but we are early risers and don't mind the skylight. I have never stayed in a room with a Disney view that we couldn't see the fireworks.

Do any of the Std 2 Queen rooms actually face away from the freeway (wouldn't that mean they face DL)? The video on the HoJo website says that all the Std 2 Queen rooms face the freeway.

Interesting! I guess maybe the first floor by the sound wall really is quieter. I remember someone suggesting that here in a thread, so I requested a first floor Kids Suite on our stay last year, before the renovations/window upgrades. My DH who is normally a very light sleeper slept like a baby! Plus we didn't notice any people noise and our suite was right by the elevators and the single door side exit. I hope we get that same suite again on future trips!

We had a DL view room the one time we stayed there. The view was okay, there are some trees that do sort of block some of it. We were at the very end of the building, on the side next to the street. We could hear a lot of noise from that street, as well as some freeway noise. I'm a light sleeper so it did bug me. Didn't help that they were doing some road work early in the morning right next to the building. There was also a lot of kids and people being loud at all hours in the hallway.

Worst part of our stay was having the maid come back in to our room unannounced after she had already cleaned the room. We were taking a nap and she just walked in. Then she got rude and told us to put up the do not disturb sign. We normally don't think we need to after the room is done. Ah well. We don't plan on staying there again, but if we did we'd probably go for one of the two story buildings, they appear to be more quiet.

All the standard 2 queen rooms do face the freeway. Except for the seventh floor, these rooms do now have noise buffering that helps a lot. It still seems noisier on one side of the building than the other though, and perhaps this is what BayAreaMom meant when saying to pick a standard room away from the freeway. Yes, you are still facing the freeway, but the rooms closer to the elevator side of the building aren't quite as close to the freeway, so the noise through the walls isn't as bad.

We only ever stay in building 2. These are deluxe & premium double queens & king rooms. I believe they may also have a few suites in bldg 2 but I'm not certain.

Bldg 2 is quiet, near the large pool, depending on where you are in the bldg you can have a great view (especially of the fireworks!) and there's no skylights here to wake you up with the morning sun. We always request top floor (there are 4 floors), away from the elevator & facing the pool. We've never been disappointed and I usually get this rate with the ET discount for $69/night!

We will always pay a little extra to stay in this bldg- IMO, it's worth it!:thumbsup2
