We are planning a Disneyland trip for Nov8-12. We will have all day Saturday through Tuesday and we fly out of LGB at 6 pm on Wednesday so a partial day that day. Tuesday is Veteran’s Day. We will have 4 day park-hoppers with one MM. We have an 11 year old girl and 8 and 5 year old boys. I would like to do one day at LegoLand. With the days we have, how should we plan our days? I’m thinking Sat should be MM, Sun DL again, Mon LegoLand, Tues CA and Wed whatever we feel the need to see more of. We may park hop on some days, but based on not having EMH, I think Tuesday first thing for RSR and Toy Story MM.
Also, our last trip to Disneyland was in 2008 and it was amazing thanks to all the tips from this board. We stayed at HoJo and were happy with it. A sit-n-stand stroller for our 2 and 5 yo at the time meant no issue with the walk. I have a firework view room booked there with the 20% off entertainment rate. But I saw some comments on new rooms at Ramada Maingate. I can get a new room there for a bit less than our room at HoJo and the shorter walk is appealing since we will have 3 walking kids this time. DH is a bit change-adverse, so I’m nervous to make the jump to Ramada since we had a good experience with HoJo. Does anyone have any opinions for HoJo vs Ramada Maingate based on having a good HoJo experience in the past? I’m not worried about Ramada breakfast quality since they don’t have one at HoJo. We’ll have cereal in our room.

We were underwhelmed with Legoland after DL. I would suggest starting that way so it will probably be more impressive, if you haven't just experienced how amazing DL is.

Legoland isn't all that close to Disneyland. I would do it on Saturday or Sunday (in large part to avoid So Cal rush hour traffic while you make the trek to Carslbad).

We will be at DL the same time as you...we are staying at HoJo's and will fly in & out of LGB!:cool1:

We have done the day trip to Legoland from Anaheim 3 times. While I don't think any theme park comes even close to Disneyland, if you have kids (or adults) that love Lego, it is a neat place to visit!

I like having a few days at DL first and then we make the trip down to Carlsbad. Even though you will be on your feet at Legoland most of the day, starting the day sitting down for the car ride is so nice after a couple of days standing and walking at DL!

We hit Starbucks and then jump on I-5. We always have breakfast at Mollie's Country Kitchen in Laguna Niguel and then make our way to Carlsbad. We time everything to arrive right at opening. If you are interested, check out Mollie's on Yelp. Right across from Mollie's is a Walgreens and Ralph's grocery store. Both work great if you need more sunscreen or snacks/lunch items for LL.

We have encountered maybe 10 minutes of gridlock leaving Anaheim in the morning but we have never experienced traffic after leaving the Anaheim/Irvine area. Not to say it doesn't happen though....

We usually stay at Legoland until late afternoon and then head into the little town of Carlsbad (2 miles away) for dinner. As much as I LOVE DL, our dinners in Carlsbad in a non- theme park restaurant are sooo nice! There are stairs close by that you can use to walk down to the beach too.

Then we jump back onto I-5 and head back to Anahiem.

It looks like the So Cal Annual pass is blocked on the 8th & 9th but not the 10 & 11th.

We only stay at ramada ... Deluxe with fireworks view room or superior. Both good-sized rooms. Our kids LOVE the zero entry depth pool and the water sprayers.

Won't stay anywhere else!! I think we've had 9 vacations at the ramada maingate now. Our fave!!

Thanks for the info. We'll plan Legoland for Sunday or Monday depending on Saturday at DL goes and keeping in mind the traffic situation. I appreciate the Carlsbad info too!
