We are considering a stay at the Hojo in October and are wondering about the standard rooms that face the freeway. Are they noisy? We normally sleep with the room air conditioner fan on. Would that drown out the noise from the freeway? TIA!

My parents stayed on one of those rooms and thought it was pretty noisy. But I'd imagine the AC would block most of it out.
We always stay in Building 2. Nice big, quiet rooms.

Our room was facing the pool, not the freeway, but if you sleep with the AC on I'm pretty sure that thing would block out any noise, lol. But at the same time, I didn't mind it so much.

With the A/C on we couldn't really hear much freeway noise at night. HOWEVER - we did notice it more in the morning, most mornings we get up early so didn't really bother us. However if you like to sleep later it might be more of an issue for you.

We just got back from staying there and I will never be back. I stayed in a premium view room and it was quite loud. The hotel overall is just not up to my standards and that walk feels much longer than my walk to the GCH. Even if it's the same distance it feels long and lonely on the street. I should stop since my mom always says if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all :)

Yikes!! I just booked this hotel for 8 nights. Is the walk back and forth really that bad? It took me forever to finally decide on a walking distance hotel.

We stayed there for for a week and the end of April in a pool view room. The walk is less than 10 minutes at a relitively slow pace we found it quite manageable. If you have young kids this is a great hotel because of the water park area. The staff is very friendsly, we had a couple of minor problems but they were addressed quickly here is probably no comaparison between Hojo`s and GCH but I would stay there againin a heartbeat .

We are here right now in a premium view room. We have yet to notice the freeway noise, although as I type this, if I concentrate, I can hear it. The walk is not short, but it's definitely manageable. We've done the round trip twice on each of the last two days and honestly, my kids are doing much better with it than I am. We have stayed everywhere from Super 8 to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to on-property at WDW, and this is by far my favorite hotel room ever.

It's all relative. Someone staying right next door may hate it. We, however, are thrilled with the room.

We just got back today from three nights in a disney view room. It was so nice and quiet :thumbsup2 we stayed at portofino over Easter and while I like that hotel it was way noisier than hojo. I couldn't hear people above me or to the side. I prefer rooms away from elevators and this one while not right next to, I originaly thought it would be too close. Never heard a peep.
The walk was just a stretch farther than I would of liked, but not a deal breaker. We are going back in August! :cool1:
Also it is one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed at around DL.
We don't smoke and appreciate their no tolerance policy on smoking :)

This was our experience as well. We had a premium view room, it was on the very end right up against Manchester Ave. Not only could we hear the freeway (and oh yes we could hear it!), but also all the noise on Manchester. LOTS of buses at all hours, one early morning they did street work on it, and wow nothing like waking up to a jackhammer! Then we had Grad night, and that was super loud coming from DL. One of the worst night sleeps we had in a hotel on that night. Our last night was at the DLH, and it was like heaven to get a quiet night sleep.

Just wasn't worth the extra walking for us. We stay right across the street at the Tropicana, or on site if we can swing it.

Others have said the other buildings are better for quiet, and of course some people handle noise better then others. I like it pretty quiet.

Building 1 facing the freeway you will hear the freeway and it is noisy it drove me nuts. The good thing was I was so tired that I did fall asleep.

I would stay at the hojo again but not on that side but for 59 bucks a night you really cant beat it.

Well i'm paying around 118.00 a night plus tx. Is it worth that much night or should I keep looking?

I havnt been able to find anything price comparable to hojo. Maybe I am not looking in the right spots. Even AP prices for onsite properties are atleast double the rates I get at hojo. The rooms I booked for august are not ent rates but are cheaper than. At 78$ for a Disney viewroom for 4 nights in august before school starts back up, you bet I will be there.
But I still look around almost everyday for better deals elsewhere, someone tell me where I can get one please :worship:
I hear many people talk about candycane and tropicana but I don't see great prices for them anywhere.?

Wow how did you get such a cheap rate in August. Mine is a AP rate the first week of August. All they had left was a deluxe pool view room. I think regular price is 149.00.

Our favorite off site hotel is the HoJo. The walk is not bad at all, especially if walk on the opposite side of Harbor and take the short cut thru the taxi parking area right after the bus stop. It takes us 7-10 min. to walk it.

We stay in the pavilion rooms or in bldg 2 most of the time. The pavilion rooms are 2 doubles but we are OK with that, bldg 2 rooms are pool view, only once have we had bad freeway noise and that was in the very back corner of bldg 2 next to the freeway, if we had turned on the a/c it probably would have been just fine but I didn't think of that. Bldg 1 we had a Disney view room and it was great, no freeway/road noise at all!

I can only say what our experience was. Maybe it was the location of our room that made it all worse. But I can say I would never stay in that building during a Grad night regardless. The noise that carried over couldn't be drowned out from the A/C unfortunately.

We did do the short cut walk, still we didn't find it worth the walk. Not when we can get a two queen room at the Tropicana, with only a walk across the cross walk! :) To each their own for sure.

I booked august 11-15 in March of this year. I got October even cheaper. I did it online. That's why I say when I look for other hotels and can't find anything that good. But still wonder why or how others get great rates for some other properties? :confused3
