I am debating between the HoJo and Desert Inn & Suites for our upcoming trip. The price seems comparable for a standard room with discounted rates, so what would you do? It will be me DH DS 4 and DS 8 mon.. I have enjoyed the HoJo on past trips, but with an infant I am wondering if it would be better to be at DI&S. Any recommendations?

I haven't stayed yet, but we picked Desert Inns for April trip because they have a free fridge and microwave in every room. And they have free continental breakfast.

Loads of people will say Hojo for their service, cleanliness, breakfasts and pools but Desert Inn has had some great reviews as well and its also a tad closer to then Hojo, its a great place if you have smaller kids with you and dont want to walk them 5-10 min up the road.

If we didn't need the suite option, we would stay at Howard Johnson because I know my 4 year old would LOVE the pool. However, we do need a suite, so HOJO is out for us. If you don't need the suite, I would stay at HOJO--the pool looks fantastic and I love that they have a splash area for preschoolers.

were staying at desert inn our two trips oct and dec they look the best for us. and i am getting hot tub in room

We just stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites last month. We had a very nice time. Clean, close and a nice breakfast.

This board is very pro-HOJO so you will get a lot of people saying great things about HOJO as well.

We are struggling with the same issue. I have booked both right now to keep my options open. I have a DD6 and DD2 (well... that will be their ages when we go). They do like sharing a room (because they don't at home... so it is novel). At first we thought we wanted the extra room to hang out in while they were sleeping so we booked the Desert Inn. Now we are leaning towards the HOJO because of the better pool (that Desert Inn pool doesn't look too great... I like the idea of the splash pool with the little ones.. then I can sit instead of having to hold a kid in the pool). We booked a premium room at the HOJO with a Disney view. I was told this guarantees a balcony. We figured we could just hang out on the balcony if they go to bed before us (a lot of times we all collapse at the same time on vacation). This is what we do in WDW when we don't have a villa and it works fine. The HOJO seems to be a farther walk... but we are used to WDW walking so 1/2 mile does not scare me. No free breakfast at HOJO... but we don't usually eat huge breakfasts anyway. There is a refrigerator in the HOJO room and by the time we go (Nov) there will probably be a microwave in the premium rooms too, so we can stock up on milk, cereal, bagels... that will do for us.

I just thought I'd give you our rational to see if it helps you guys decide. I'm sure either one will be great... it just depends upon your own needs/wants.

We have stayed at both places. Our trip in Dec. was our first time staying at HoJo. On our next trip we will be back at the Desert Inn. The only thing at I didn't like about HoJo was not having a microwave. I did hear a little freeway noise also. It is about a 10 minute walk from HoJo to DL. Desert Inn is closer. It's nice to just walk across the street and be at your hotel. If the pool is not an issue (Dsesert Inn's isn't that great) and the price is about the same, I would stay at the Desert Inn.

Hello! I just wanted to pop in and let you know that we are adding microwaves to all of our Premium Disney View Rooms [NQQ1's], and that they will definitely be in all of the NQQ1's by November! [We anticipate them being in all of the NQQ1's by May.]

Good luck in making your decision! No matter what you decide, I'm sure that you will have a great trip! :goodvibes

Regards,
Lorealle
