I just received an email from Hojo that after May 13th pool reservations will no long be required. Reservations for the waterpark area will still be required though. The email goes on to say that the pool will be on first-come basis and guest will be required to queue up and wait for other guest to leave when the max capacity has been reached (it says once all the seating is full). I recently cancelled my reservation at PPH and kept the one at Hojo but now I'm anxious because I don't do lines well and will be using my time at the pool as a time to reset after the lines and crowds at Disneyland so the pool is super important to me. I now have a reservation at the Home2 Hilton but the parking is valet and $30/night which feels like a lot for our 6 night stay. It is about $500 more for the stay than Hojo plus the additional parking fee but it does come with breakfast included. So confused if the pool situation at Hojo is going to be a big deal or not. Would love some insight what have the crowd levels been like at the pool at Hojo?

I understand your anxiety. I just read a Facebook post of someone trying to make reservations for the water park there and they were full. I honestly feel like asking guests of your hotel to make reservations feels icky to me. The courtyard requires them too and it's part of the reason we changed our hotel plans.

Have they ever announced the reasoning behind it? Not enough life guards/staff?

Curious since now that things are open again, I don't see other hotels limiting guests in pools. (besides Courtyard, but I believe they're under same property ownership just different franchise branding)

I'm have the same concerns about the Hojo pool situation. Going to the pool should be an easy decision to make in the moment. Paying guests should not have to reserve pool or splashpad time, or worry that they won't get a spot and will be turned away It makes it really hard with little ones. I wasn't even going to consider the Hojo on principle...but I found a decent rate there for my dates. I like the balconies and the garden pool looks resortish. I'm still looking at other options though.
