HoJo-kids suite questions

I just booked a Kids suite at the HoJo for our trip this summer and have a few questions about the room.

1. Is it pirate themed as stated?
2. Is the sofa sleeper really only a twin? My mom will be accompanying us and I want to make sure that it's enough room for her (she's Pooh sized), and for possibly our youngest who I'm not sure will stay in the bunkbed.
3. The bunk beds, does the top bunk have a bedrail?

Overall, what's your impression of the room? Online it stated that these rooms are in building 1 facing the highway which is fine by us. I also double checked and was told that there is an elevator in this building, is there only one or is there a second?

Thanks!

The room is pirate themed, but it is subtle. You can check out the rooms via the hojo web site. There are you tube videos of the rooms.

The pull out is a twin, and not all that comfortable. I would put your mother on one of the twin beds because those matressess were comfy.

The bunks have a top protection rail that held in my flailer quite well. Beware, the safety rail has a lock which allows the housekeepers to make the bed without the rail in place, but it makes the rail noisy when anyone rolls or turns. If you have very light sleepers that will be an issue. We dealt with the issue by wedging a pillow into the space next to the rail to keep it fixed in one position.

There are two elevators in building one. You can request to get a suite on the first floor if you don't want to use the elevators.

We stayed in one recently as we decided to arrive a night early as I had wanted to try these. Glad I am not the only one who had an issue with the squeaky top bunk. It was really loud and made sleeping tough for me and dh and we are not light sleepers. We had allowed my parents to have the king bed and we crashed with the kids in the front room (Do not recommend this as the rooms really only accomodate 5) I took the bottom of the bunk bed and dh took the pullout sofa sleeper (yes it is twin but it is okay for an adult) with our 2 kids on top bunk. The girls move around a lot when they sleep so it was really noticable.

Otherwise, the room was really nice! We were right next to the elevator in building 1 (2nd floor I think) and this was great as we could get in and out easily and down to our van. They were all highway side but the noise from the freeway was not noticeable. There is one of those keurig coffee makers, a microwave and small fridge in the king bedroom side. We liked them enough that we rebooked a night when we come in for the 1/2 marathon. We actually own DVC at the Grand Californian but the point cost per night for weekends is high so I think we will use these pirate suites for an arrival spot from now on if we come in on a weekend or early. Next trip will not have my parents joining us but I will try the wedging the pillow trick to help all in the front room sleep a little better.

Booked the kids suite for August, not my first choice but it will do for now. Hoping the king suite comes available. I think Hojo will get tired of me calling about availability. Can not find a layout on Hojo's website.

I just booked it for our March trip and am super excited!:goodvibes I thought it would be too expensive for us but was pleasantly surprised. I think I will keep this part of the trip a secret from the kids (they are always begging for bunk beds, so they are going to love this) for a little extra happiness on arrival!:cloud9:

We stayed there last month in the kids suite and it was great. We had the same problem with the jiggly top bunk, so we put the decorative oversized pillows along the railing, and that helped with the noise. We didn't try out the sofa bed, so I'm not sure about that. And it does have a very subtle pirate theme (not like your sitting on the POTC ride or anything) I thought it was more fun (with the polka-dots and squares) than pirate-y. Very nice room to stay in, and would definitely stay there again.:goodvibes
