HOJO Hints & Tips

So, I could book my dates now just to make sure I get them & then call back when the new card comes out to get a better rate???

The new ones come out in September and you can book now with the Entertainment rate and then just bring down your card when you go. You dont have to give the card number or anything when you do your reservation, you just have to show the card when you arrive at the hotel.

Entertainment books are published around August I think. The card and most of the coupons inside the book expire on Nov. 1 the following year. So the current 2010 book/card first become available around Aug/2009 and runs through this Nov. 1. If your trip is after Nov. 1, you will need to buy the 2011 card which should be available sometime around August and will expire on Nov. 1, 2011. You do not have to have the card in your possession to book HOJO at the entertainment card rate. Just call and ask to speak to in-house reservations (national won't know what you're talking about) and ask for the entertainment rate for your dates. You will need to show a non-expired entertainment card when you check in at the hotel.

If I think I want to stay the week of December 12th, how far in advance should I book the room? Do the dates sell out quickly? I've never used the Entertainment Rate before.

Check this page to see if your dates are available:

I book mine as soon as I see them because you never know. Sometimes a date will be on that list for just a few days, sometimes for weeks.

I would always book well in advance, just in case. Your week is probably OK but you never know, and Entertainment Rates are limited to a certain number of rooms (or otherwise limited) so they will not last forever. Plus rates sometimes go up. If by chance they went down, you could rebook or probably even call them and ask them to change your rate.

(For June, I just checked new rates for our dates we booked back in March, and they're now $20 a night higher!)

Because we arew visiting DLR twice ( on the way to and from the UK) it will actually be cheaper for us to get an Annual Passport rather than 2 3 day hoppers so now I don't need to get the ent card as the AP rate is the same!! yay- more money to spend in the shops!!!

We just got back Monday from a 5 night stay. We had a queen/queen standard. We were on the first floor facing the highway. I never heard highway noise. The noise that did bother me a lot was the showers and toilets from other rooms. Very very loud!!! But it was only as I was getting ready for bed or in the morning. It didn't actually wake me up.

We loved our location!

Staying in bldg 2 in a deluxe room this July. Which Deluxe QQ rooms do not have balconies? Which rooms are better/ worse than others? Anyone familiar with the slightly larger NQQ2 alt rooms?

Thanks!

phone the hotel directly and make any requests you want, the 1-800 number can't do it for you! The only less than satisfactory for us room we've had at Hojo's was in building 2 on the ground floor, on the right side of the building. We've stayed in all the different buildings now, building 2, 3 or maybe even 4 times. We particularly like the other side of the building, 4th floor, rooms were numbered something like 2423. that's building 2 floor 4 room 23. it is looking right over the pool, had a full balcony (some rooms only have a walk out balcony about 2 feet deep) was quiet, sun shone on the balcony in the morning, was nice to sit and have your cereal in the sun to get the day started :thumbsup2 it was private too because you are up higher. the other room on the ground floor was right beside the walkway so we didn't even have our curtains open much less sit on the balcony, and it was very dark too, no sun shining in at all. We stayed on the second floor as well, same good side of the building. So think about what's important to you, sun in the morning? privacy? shortest walk from the elevator possible? They will put all the info on your reservation and though they say they can't garuntee it, they try their best to honor your requests.

Can anybody say to me if HOJO has Frontdesk safe box?, I do not feel myself safe in leaving values in in-room safe.

Anyone know if we check in about noon, and our room isn't ready, can we hang out at the pool?
We've booked only one night in September, a NQQ2. I was thinking of adding on a day when I saw the old entertainment rates, but that date isn't there now. So most likely will not add a day. Can't wait to try out the HOJO!

Yes, we have done this before. The front desk staff will issue you a parking placard for your car and a temporary access card that will allow you entry into the pool and water play areas. Also, you can leave your luggage with the desk staff until your room is ready rather than in your car.

We have stayed there many times over the past 20 years and have never had any problem with anything going missing. We always leave our passports, cash, traveller checks in the room safe and feel good about it. you change the code on the safe yourself so there's no way for anyone to know it. I have never in all these years heard of anyone having anything go missing there. :thumbsup2

thanks for all the great tips....can't wait for november!!:cool1:
*Brief thread hijack*

ShellyMouse...even though we are both on the November trip thread, I just realized that, not only do our dates overlap and we're both staying at Hojos, but we're also practically neighbors! Arapahoe County or Jefferson?

*We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread*

sorry im going to hijack for a minute too....

hi jrsy boy, we live in jefferson county (near columbine hs). but my dd goes to littleton schools. i work in englewood/cherry hills village; house manager/personal assistant.

if you and your family are up to it, maybe we could meet when at dl. my group consists of me, dh & dd(she will turn 11 on t-day). it would be fun to go all the way to cali and meet some almost neighbors! lol

ok....NOW back to regularly scheduled programming....:wizard:

Jrsy Boy and Shellymouse: I live in Arapaho County so I guess today is the Denver Area Day on the Hojo thread!

Anyway, after much thought, my husband and I decided to switch from our GCH reservation to the Hojo. Saved us $900 for our four nights. And that was with my sil's castmember discount. Sorry, just cannot see paying that much, love the GCH but not happening.

I am also betting my nieces would prefer the pool at the Hojo over the GCH one so they may be jealous!

Watched the hilarious videos Lorelle and Willy did on the Hojo website.

So I am booked in just the standard dbl.dbl room (NDD1 I think) we had that same style room a few years ago and it was great.

Does anyone know how much beer is in the Hojo gift shop?

Much less than $900 worth if that's what you're thinking, which would make you a DISer after my own heart...plus the room fridges aren't that big. It is obvious that you are from Colorado, though. We loves us some beer here.

We sure do!

First words out of my husband's mouth when I said we should change to save money was "do they sell beer at the Hojo?".

Just trying to decide if we should just have the cab stop at a grocery store so dh can go in and buy his essentials?;)
