HOJO help !

Jasmine, I had a thought. If you're so tired and wiped at the end of the night and can't walk back to the HoJo grab a taxi where you walked thru. They love taking people back to their rooms...OR you can take the ART, you just gotta get a pass for it. :)

Oh thats true ! I didn't think of that. I'll keep that on stand by just in case we are completely wiped out. Usually we leave a little early (around 10) but since I've been bringing my Nikon, I usually stay till close :)

It really isn't that far to walk! I will admit, that when you come out at night and look across the main crosswalk at BWPPI right across the street, that looking up that long block to the stoplight at Manchester looks like a LONG way. But in reality-- think about it. If you're staying across the street, unless you are staying at Park Vue or BWPPI, you still have a little walk. By the time you cross at the big crosswalk, fighting your way through hordes of people at closing time and dodging strollers (man, I couldn't believe the crowds we saw at closing time, on the other side of the street from us!) it's literally 3 minutes' difference of walking. Plus, you are going out the quiet side of the tram driveway and walking along the west side of Harbor, with maybe one or two other families, as opposed to dozens. It feels safe yet uncrowded. As Bumbershoot said about the walk before-- it's getting out of the gates, through the security areas, and out to Harbor that is the major part of the walk. The 3-4 minutes' farther to HoJo is not the part that is hurting your feet! In my opinion, the nicer hotel and the much better price with the Ent rate is well worth the extra 4 minutes!

I know, I know... I'm just being a cranky pants about it  I'm sure it will be just fine and we will be saving money by staying at HoJos :)

Okay, this is my first post ever on the Dis but I've been lurking for awhile!

So my question is: is this Entertainment rate available for Canadian residents or is it for US residents only? I've read above that you can obtain this card from Ebay - easy enough, but would I be able to use is because I live south of the border?

Thanks! :lovestruc

yea i agree that if you're going to save a good amount of moooolah by staying at HOJO's, then its probably worth the extra walking:) i probably wouldnt drive though! lol i think its probably further that way b/c dont you have to walk to the tram from the parking lot, then walk through DTD to get to DL? that seems like much more walking than just coming straight from hojos;)

Yes, absolutely! You can use an entertainment card from anywhere (I use mine from the Vancouver area). You can just purchase the card if you want or whatever book is cheapest (apparently Las Vegas is around $25 - whereas Vancouver is $50).

Get the cheapest one you can find, all they want is to see the card when you check in. :) You can go to Entertainmentbook.com to see the different books and then see what you can find on eBay. I buy mine direct tho because I like to get the My Points credits and free shipping. :)

Does any entertainment book/card work? I'm from Australia and was thinking that I would need to eBay a US entertainment card?

Maybe I'll ask on the HoJo boards, I'm sure noone has had this problem before!

Thanks for the info - but when I check the website there is no book available for my area, now on ebay I can see a 2009 Entertainment Card Nationwide...is that it? Because it's only $6, and free shipping - seems kinda cheap? Then it says that you have to call and register it for a certain city, would you register it for Anaheim then to get the rate? I'm so not discount savy! :confused3

Oh and when you call to book the rate do you have to have the card on you or a number or can you book the rate and then just show the card on check-in, because I would like to book it right away for dates but I won't get the card probably in the mail for a couple weeks or more.

Thanks for all your help everyone!:thumbsup2

Definitely just buy the card off e-bay, if you don't want the whole book and coupons thing. $5-6 is about standard for the card by itself. Register it for anywhere you like, or don't even register it if you don't want to, because HoJo won't want the number or anything. In fact, there's been different experiences here on the boards with even having to show the card. Some people said they definitely asked to see the card when you checked in, and that's what the official HoJo site says. When I checked in, I got it out and said, "Oh, you'll want to see this," and the girl sort of smiled absently at me and nodded like, "Uh huh, that's nice" and went on with what she was doing. I seriously don't think she even would have asked to see it if I hadn't taken the initiative. :confused3 Weird, huh?

BTW, no, you don't have to have the card when you book. Go ahead and book as soon as possible. But, be sure to call the hotel directly and ask for IN HOUSE reservations, 9-5 Mon-Fri. If they shuttle you to the national reservation line, those people don't know what you're talking about with the 50% off Ent rate.

Hope that helps!

Hi!

I will be visiting in May 2009 from Australia and I have recently purchased my local 2008/2009 Entertainment Book.

Is the Entertainment rate valid with my Australian Entertainment card?

Thanks
Janine

Hello Janine!

Thanks for the great question!

The answer is YES! As long as you have an Entertainment Card that is valid for the time that you are going to be staying with us, we will accept it!

Hope this helps!

Thanks Avalon...and everyone else! I'll make sure to call first thing Monday! :cool1:

I so wish I knew about this the last time we went!

Thanks so much everyone for asking more question and those for answering as well :) (especially avalon451)

I really want to cut costs where I can on this trip because I'm going with my cousins who are a little bit younger than me and have less money than I do. Any way I can save money here and there will better insure that they won't back out on the trip !

I just booked a room at HoJo for my birthday trip in January. My oldest dd (doesn't live at home and is splitting the costs with me) and I are going!! I've got 3 other trips to DL this year where I booked the AP7/AP8 rates for GCH and DLH, but the birthday trip was a bonus treat to myself and I couldn't afford another resort stay. I was so excited to get a room at HoJos for $59!! Our total cost for 2 nights is only $135, everything included! Jennifer at HoJos was super nice when I called. I couldn't decide whether to upgrade to the 2 queen beds and a mw room ($69) or the premium room ($79), and Jennifer went through it all with me. I really don't care about a pillow-top queen bed (an XL double, regular mattress is fine for me!), I don't need a view, I don't need a mw, but I really wanted one of the upper-level rooms with the skylight windows in a quiet location away from the highway. I got all of that for $59, which seems an incredible deal! I went to ebay and found the 2009 national entertainment card for $5.49 or best offer with $.99 shipping, so I offered $4.49 and it was immediatly accepted. That was only a couple of days ago and I got the card in the mail today. Woohoo!! Thanks to everyone who has posted about HoJo.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to tell dh :scared1:
